Stop with the Mayfield trades. 3rd pair dmen getting paid too much for a 3rd pair dman are not worth 2nd liners and a boom/bust prospect

See here you just clearly comment on a player you know nothing about.

Mayfield fits TOR biggest need.. big, right handed defensive defenceman.
Not to mention he's on an AMAZING contract for 3 more years and can play on literally any D pairing.

Oh but he's a "3rd pair" D man playing 20 minutes a night.

Do you want to make the playoffs?
When you get there do you want to advance past the first round?
Do you want a player you'll have for the next 3 years guarantee vs a guy who's UFA and won't be back next year?

If your answer is yes to any of those questions, Mayfield is your guy.

I think part of his success is the fact that he plays in Trotz system. I am not sure if he can succeed the same way under Keefe. Regardless, NYI should neither try to trade a cheap player excelling in their system, nor should TOR offer Johnsson for him (they may be able to get more value if and when they need to move him).

Mayfield is hugely overrated on this site.
