You are paying like crazy to the Ducks. Manson is a top-4, decent control and contract, but he's not a top pairing guy. You are giving up the Leafs' top defensive prospect and 2 young NHL fringe top-6 players with control and on good contracts, nevermind that 2nd rounder. Kapanen, Bracco and a 2nd should more than do it, and if not, the Leafs should just not make this deal. I don't consider Manson a game changer.

I agree that it's an overpay, but Sandin>>>Lilja... I really don't see elite top upside in Lilja, and based on the fact that RD is ANA's only need (well high end forward talent, but they're not getting that from Kase) he is a realistic, and basically a nesicary part of a return for Manson (like why would a team trade a proven guy with term for a guy who's ceiling is the same as that guy, obv the specs ceiling is gonna have to be a bit higher, and have a floor a bit lower, I think Lilja compared to Manson fits that description pretty well)

What a horrid trade for the Leaf. This love of other teams RHD....so unjustified. So the Leafs trade three regulars and potential long term Leaf for an OK winger and OK to good Dman.
