Could this Petry trade work DAL Fans

Created by: MTLFAN27
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 23, 2020
Published: Jan. 23, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
MTL
  1. Hanzal, Martin
  2. Honka, Julius [Reserve List]
  3. Robertson, Jason
  4. 2020 1st round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
The Canadiens receive a silimar return to what the Kings did for Jake Muzzin (Grundstrom + Durzi + 1st) A little bit better than that because they take on the salary of Martin Hanzal. Hanzal waives his M-NTC and the Canadiens buy him out. Honka for Juulsen is just two players that need a fresh start.
DAL
  1. Juulsen, Noah
  2. Petry, Jeff
Additional Details:
The Stars need a top 4 RD as they have Klingberg but then their next best RD is Stephen Johns. Juulsen and Honka both need a fresh start.

id use juulsen elsewhere in a trade.

petry probably worth robertson and a 2nd. Robertson carries more value than any of the prospects in the Muzzin trade. Hanzal is LTIR so i dont think he needs to be moved.

To much to give up for Dallas. They are number 1 in Defense and last in offense. Maybe try a trade where they get Tartar instead. Isnt Petry like 50 years old already, seems so long since he was on the OIlers

depends on who you ask

DAL fans were trying to give him away for the past week in trades for some reason .
confused the crap outta me but i kept getting told he didnt jump straight to the NHL like they thought and wanted to sell before his percieved value dropped

i'd probably equate Robertson to Poehling more or less
has value but its unclear how much past they'll both be NHL regulars in the future .

i mean they both could be great but im sure DAL thought that about Jason Dickinson to at one point

Poehling wasnt ever an elite finisher though. Skating was Robertson's problem and why he dropped in the draft. He can work on that though, look at draisaitl, he had foot speed issues as well. He is great now. Depends on how much work Robertson will do during the off season.

Petry could help your offense as well he's on pace for 46 points this year and he can play on the PP. Petry is 32 yrs old but only has this year and next left on his contract, then you can sign him for however long you like. We could give up Tatar but that would cost you some more.

Same Line , Same Tournament as Robertson and it was Poehling who came out MVP and top scorer
just saying Poehling may choose to be a playmaker more then a goal scorer but he makes all those around them better as both Robertson and Caufield had career numbers internationally.

im not saying identical just similar value
Poehling dropped because of confidioning which St Cloud team doctors discovered was a blockage in his naval cavity and post surgery he took off.
if they would have discovered this before the draft who knows but after surgery he pushed himself to a position where he's as valued as our 3rd overall pick

he's showed he's grown a lot in a little bit of time but we have to remember he isnt canadian there was no AAA road schedules and NHL style format seasons/playoffs and hockey for Poehling was always la school related thing .your guy was a genius and prepared himself ahead of time

Goal scorers also have a bit easier time translating to NHL than playmakers though. that is why alot of people dont value Bracco as high as leafs fans do.

Petry's only 2 years older then Muzzin and has had a better career individually stats wise .
his power is in his shot and on Power Play quarter backing the play so his value will maintain for as long as his feet can keep up

will it be a long time? who knows
will it be until his contract is up atleast ? Absolutely given his pace the past few years on bad teams

Exactly playing with someone like Miro he could be around 50 points by the end of the season

LOL no, i think he has 20 points with 30 games left, to hit 50 is a point per game for Petry and the team already has problems scoring and the quality of hockey ramps up pretty quick so it is harder to score points. So 30 points in 30 games for Petry will be tough no matter which team he is on, especially with no PP time in Dallas

Petry has 28 points in 50 games. (0.56 PPG) Dallas has 34 games remaining. 0.56 × 84 total games = 47.04. Petry is on pace for 47 points

Dallas doesn't score even close to the same rate as the habs. but I didnt know they still had that many games left

Also you could play 2 defenceman on the PP. Petry has 2 goals and 9 points on the PP this year.

That's fair. I think it would be realistic to say he could get to 45 points though

Without pp time, 1/3 of his points are on PP. so if he had 40 in dallas I would be surprised. But I have been wrong lots in my life, so why not another time.

Who's on your PP now? Could you play 2 D on your PP?

it might be easier to offer him to VAN
Benn has been a healthy scratch and Meyers is their only top 4 D and he's a stay at home D not an offensive guy

Edler-Petry
Hughes -Meyers

Juolevi would be a good piece to acquire

Not sure if he will get 23 minutes a night behind Klingberg. that guy is a machine. Petry might get lots of PK time though

Teams dont do that except on their 2nd unit sometimes when they have not enough depth, like the Oilers. I am an Oilers fan, hate the stars, but see them lots as they are in our time zone
