Simon>>B. Lemieux (especially at the two way game), Schultz alone should be able to get more than that, and that probably doesn't get you Bonino

do you watch simon play at all he cant hold lemieux Jacques strap. Simon might be slighty better on d but lemieux is a better scorer and a massive agitator. schultz is an often inured d man even saying that up the picks to a 2nd and a 4th maybe. bonino, is having a good season and is worth a bit more maybe change it to a 2nd but not much more

"Zucker doesnt want to leave wild has a no trade list"

Yeah, let's pretend that he wasn't already part of a trade this summer that only didn't go through because Kessel turned it down.

He has a modified no-trade where he can list 10 teams he doesn't want to go to. The Penguins are unlikely to be on that list.

Looks like you dont watch simon play. His only knock is he doesn't put the puck in the net. Thats it. Hes strong with possessing the puck, solid defensively, fast, and is a good passer. Not to mention how many PIM Lemieux racks up. Lemieux is worse than simon

simon is not a good passer not even close i have not missed a pens game this year. simon is a worse version of shoot the puck into the logo tyler kennedy. he should not be a top 12 forward on a real cup contender.

like most modified ntc the player names his ten teams in the summer. so if zucker was smart the pens are on that list. he is a great player and fits the pens needs exactly i just dont think he ends up here. do you really want him here if he doesnt want to be here.

simon is so good he is 1 of 2 players with 30 games played to be a minus player
Alex Galchenyuk being the other. yes plus minus is not a great individual stat but when one of a small number on team it gain some validity. he has been on the ice for the third most even strength goals against 33 while averaging about 13 minutes on ice a game compared to 20 and 17 minutes foe the 2 players with more. letang and peterson. he has by far the lowest percentage of time on ice for even strength goals. he is awful.

You are allowed to have that opinion of simon, but its wrong. Simon is a great possession player, he increases the corsi of every line he is on. Crosby loves to play with him, he has high hockey IQ. He is great at making passes under pressure, he plays a good two-way game. Stop with your bandwagon talking points about simon. Theres a reason the guy who has won this team 2 cups repeatedly puts simon with crosby and the best player in the world wants to play with him. Sorry the only thing you care about is goal scoring and points because thats not all what hockey is about these days. Role players are just as important, especially when it comes to the type of game the pens play

Cool, and if he had listed them there would be no talks of a trade at all. The Penguins are quite obviously not on the list.

You can't say "realistic unlike most" and then ignore reality.

yes there could be talks he can still agree to wave the no trade. he could very easily of decided after the almost trade this summer to add the penguins knowing there interest in him. it does happen that way

its not opinion i gave stats to back it up unlike others. his possession numbers are middle of the pack so average for the nhl. crosby as also been reported as to not like horny on his wing yet it happens that he plays there, i dont see these corsi stats you speak of. i am not talking about points it is more geared to goal prevention as the 3rd most goals scored against at even strength while he is on the ice. the only two penguin players on the ice for more goals play 7 minutes more a game and 4 minutes more a game. this is a response to the claim he is great defensively. he has by far the lowest percentage of time on ice for even strength goals. this is proof he doesn't posses or pass the puck well. he doesnt help create goals two things passing and possessing the puck lead to. yes role players are important ones that play a good or useful role like ZAR, Tanev, Blueger, and McCan.

McCann is not a role player first of all, second of all never heard of Crosby not wanting horny on his wing no idea where you got that from. You want stats? Here are the stats. https://www.naturalstattrick.com/playerreport.php?fromseason=20172018&thruseason=20192020&stype=2&sit=5v5&stdoi=oi&rate=n&v=t&playerid=8478866

Take a look at his impact on Crosby's corsi% with and without simon since the 2017-18 season. He literally has such a significant impact on the corsi% of anyone who plays with him. You can say whatever else you want about his play but that is the evidence that he is a possession player and makes every line he plays on better. In fact, he isnt even his best with crosby. Stats show he plays his best hockey with Bjugstad as his center. If you remember watching the Horny Bjug Simon line last season they were possession monsters. You have to give credit where credit is due.

McCann is a role player a very good one yes. he is fast with a good shot is solid at faceoffs. he is a good top 9 forward not a superstar or allstar but a very good role player.

i traded simon for lemieux, who is the better all around player and the type of player other teams hate to play against. simon can skate and works hard but that is all he can do. yes that line was very good checking line last year for a few weeks didn't stop the Pens from being dismantled by a less talented harder working team in the isles. Simon is a black hole on offense and a 4th line grinder

lmao what are you talking about? you couldnt be more wrong if you tried. Simon is the better all around player, plain and simple. Simon is not a black hole on offense and he is a strong passer. Start watching the games and stop looking at goal totals

Given the availability concerns Bjugstad has had, I think I'd rather keep Bonino (or do a different trade involving him). Adding the pick makes it close enough that I wouldn't object too much if this went through, tho.
