Description
Will Sergachev, or Cirelli get offer sheets higher than 4.9 million? Is Rutta worth more than 1.5 million (played surprisingly well)? Who goes? We need to clear 11 million in cap space.

Not just $10M over, but you have Serg and Cirelli taking discounts.

Was just going to say something along these lines. I get that TSN is Toronto-centric, but Tampa is a much bigger story.

Though, when I'm thinking about it, if they talked about Tampa, it would just be Tampa players rumored to be going to Toronto, so maybe it's best to be kept hush-hush hahahaha.

I'd suggest signing Cirelli, Sergachev and Cernak to bridge deals. Maybe $3,33M for 3 years for Cirelli (like Johnson), $3,25M for 2 years for Sergachev (like Nurse) and $2,85M for 2 years for Cernak (like Carlo). And do this immediately before the draft in order to prevent offer sheets.

Yeah well decide who you need to move and then call detroit and we'll make it work. 8 million dollars for 5 and 6 dmen seems too much. You have to lose someone.

This is the year for Tampa to go all in, they may never have a better chance. They will have to move out 2 of Palat, Killorn and Johnson this offseason and replace with ELC's and I doubt anyone is going to do them favours by taking those guys. There are only so many Bennings out there that like to bail out other teams.

Every good team is close to the cap. Many have a lot of bad contracts as well. TO has one that is done after this season. They are fine.

I think Serg will come in a bit higher no? Closer to the Werenski deal I would think. Maybe 3@4.25 ish.
I am a stats guy so I know how good Cirelli is (he should win the selke), what I don't know is if his agent will be able to translate that into a bigger contract due to how that kind of hype works, so maybe your projection is right, but it could be WAY low. He could go as high as 6@7 I think, or 3@5 if his agent is good at his job.

Man, those boys in Tampa signed their own death certificates with all of the NMC/NTC's that they handed out. Palat and Killorn seem like the easiest to move, given that both are modified this summer, but yeah, tough situation.

TB has good history with signing their assets for cheap bridge deals. Even Nikita F*cking Kucherov was signed for less than what is suggested for Sergachev here, with the same term.
I'd probably get $3,8M but I'd say that's the maximum.

Using signings from years ago when the cap was lower doesnt work.

Both have term and are over paid. Will not be easy to move. Especially since there are not a lot of teams with much cap space

RFA signings have been happening later and later around the league (heck look at Point last year) that may give them time to work things a bit under the cap. They will need to move at least one of Johnson or Gourde. Both have NTC's but you see if they will waive. Gourde is going to cost a ton to offload, would a first rounder even cover it?

I could see them moving out Sergachev as well. Yes he's good and young but you can't afford to pay that to a third pairing D and he's not going to move up in the lineup anytime soon. Maybe package him with Gourde to save yourself? It's a rough setup for sure.

This is the team the Leafs need to learn from IMO. Pay your top guys what you need to but do not overpay bottom-6 forwards and bottom pair dmen. Or your goalie.

Toronto is in cap hell this year, when healthy they cant even run a 22 man team. As for Tampa, everyone knows they are screwed next year and something has to change

He is on the fourth line because of our depth. Most teams he would be third line, maybe second playing 17 minutes. He getting around 11 minutes. Two years ago he was playing with skilled players where he went out front and banged in goals. He does not have that opportunity this year and it has effected his confidence, which is a snowball effect.

Sergechev = McAvoy contract. But I do see him getting an offer sheet at a higher value and taking it. He wants prime time and he sits behind Hedman and McDonah.

The 22 man roster hasn't been a problem thus far. Although with the amount of injuries they've had, there hasn't been many nights were they have had issues with having health scratches. They've been able to put a sizeable chunk of change on LTIR for most of the season.
