Tbh if DET actually wasted their 1st for 2021 (offer sheeting him will cost about that much) in order to get Sergachev, you could have a chance for the first overall pick in that said draft...

Except TB. They're far from happy with that return.

Well they spent all their money so they have to live with what they get.

I don't think any player will sign an offer sheet when currently in a good situation and the team has options to make space to sign them. I think players on Canadian teams and a couple US teams have more to worry about.

Not only does an offer sheet have to overpay a player for a team to even consider it, the player has to want to leave too. It'll have to be a perfect storm of a situation for all parties involved to be ok with it and IF that were to happen, the team with the player would already be shopping that player in order to maximize the return.

I highly doubt TB has anything to worry about. One of Gourde/Johnson/Killorn/Palat will be gone and Sergachev based on TB's positional strength should be traded and replaced with an ELC. Tanev will definitely not be signed. It'll have to be cheap UFA's looking for a good situation a la Shattenkirk again.

TB is on cheat mode. They'll manage to figure it out. Again. Magically. Like they always do.....

PS. Yes I'm still jealous. squinting with tongue out

The easiest thing to do (I think) would be to trade Killorn. He is older, will have a M-NTC next year and is going through a shooting % spike that may make him more valuable to other teams.
The other MAJOR issue is that his shot rate is declining. That is the biggest red flag when it comes to the ageing process and indicated that a player will likely drop off soon. Sell high when you can. You might even do well in the trade if the GM you trade him too doesn't use analytics or is stupid.

It'll be an interesting summer for sure. They were able to shed Callahan without too much trouble. It's always possible for things to get worse...Offer sheets don't happen much, but IMO it'll be more likely a Volkov or Mathieu that signs an offer sheet just for guaranteed NHL ice time. Zero return going back to TBL though...or MAYBE a 3rd.

If we get a 3rd for Joseph I will be celebrating

Well we would have a lot of picks in a deep draft. Yes I could see all three getting offer sheets. Cirelli is a solid second C. Sergachev is maturing, at 21 hard to find defensemen with 200 games and can move the puck. Cernak regressed a bit but is still a solid right shot defenseman
