Description

It hurts to lose Smith and McNabb, but this is the only deal that makes sense for both clubs.
Montreal turns Petry into a younger top 6 forward with an extra year of term, and turns Armia into a stable top 4 stay at home D in McNabb with an extra year of term.

Montreal doesn't need to sell Petry or Armia. If we are selling them its to rebuild, not get an extra year of term and a 3rd round pick.

Habs don't even need Reilly Smith and it worsen their D-core.

Habs would be better to sell off each one individually for a better price. Have to consider that part of the benefit of selling off Petry is losing more games and getting a better 1st, this is more of a hockey trade that I dont think MTL would want. They want a sell off trade.
