Agreed, but probably would need to overpay for Leafs to accept

Just a thought. Do you think the Oilers need a winger like Kapanen? If Yammo and Kassian keep playing well then it negates the need for a top 6 winger.

I'd honestly prefer if the Oilers spent that on a center on the #3 spot.

I don't hate the trade though. If Yammo didn't play well I'd be all for this

Yamamoto is young and still developing so keep him, Kapenen is an upgrade on Kassian, I'd say it's fair to say Kassian has benefited significantly from McD and Dria, Kapenen has comparable numbers playing with much lesser players in Kerfoot/Spezza, Kap has so many tools that Leafs haven't been able show case due to the Quality RW ahead of him in the depth chart. Putting Kap on a line with both or either McD or Dria will create fantastic production. He's fast, he can score, he forechecks, he penalty kills he checks so many boxes for the Oilers

Kapanen is good and on pace for 50 points on the third line with kerfoot and spezza cantering. I don’t consider this an overpay but I also don’t think Larsson is that great.

Personally I would rather keep Kapanen but if he were to ever play beside mcdavid with the speed of those two I could easily see him being at least a ppg player.

I think the leafs would rather move Johnsson as our depth at mid level players is overflowing on the left.

Yes. Depth is key, especially in the playoffs. It also gives them the option to run the 3 centres on different lines. Kapanen is a shooter mentality and a right shot. Something the Oilers don’t have. So yes I think a winger like Kap would fit this team well.

Oilers fan here: I would accept this trade. Maybe an overpayment but this deal helps both teams in my opinion.
