roster improvements to try to make playoffs

Created by: toque
Team: 2019-20 Winnipeg Jets

Description
Team should absolutely keep their 1st round pick, so I thought i'd look at trades for players that will improve the team if Jets management decides to try to improve roster.

Bryan Little is in a no-contact jersey atm, so I assume he returns at some point. Buff I consider done for the year, there has been 0 news on his grievance and even if he is healthy by the end of the year who knows if that will be settled.

This also assumes a post-TDL roster where there are no roster limits (minus the cap of course)

Probably an overpayment for Melker and Heed but done.

Not worth trading a 2nd for a couple depth rentals.

If anything, the Ennis trade should involve the 2nd rounder and the sharks trade the 6th. But honestly you could do better with what you're willing to give up.

My 3 goals were:
a defensive minded forward who can PK
a cheaper D who can move the puck
a depth F in the event of injuries who can play centre and wing

with that in mind, who would you suggest instead?

Seems I may have overvalued, so could always drop lower

For cheap forwards: Trevor Lewis, Nate Thompson, Deslauriers, possibly Glendening, and one of the many Buffalo Sabre forwards who are pending UFAs haha. I think Ennis and Melker are options, too, but they both should cost around a 4th rounder.

For cheap defensemen: Demelo, Andy Greene if NJD retain, or maybe Scandella if MTL retains. I think WPG would actually benefit more from a defensive defenseman, like Hainsey or maybe Bogosian if Buffalo retains.

Oh, a good move would be Namestnikov, too.
