Yes Baertschi who's actually tearing up the AHL. & when he's been in the NHL, he's produced at a 40 point per year pace and has always had one of the better shots in the league. His defence and injury history have been his issues. Kase is basically a younger version of Baertschi. Not to mention that Baertschi was mentally abused by a former coach in the NHL.. so why would Vancouver give up the same player, a good prospect, and a decent pick for a player that's virtually the same but a few years younger? Terrible idea.

Not for me, but I’m not high on Baertschi... nor am I interested in quantity for quality deals. We need more high quality pieces. We’re not losing because we only have one or two elite players with nothing to support them, quite the opposite. We need more elite talent. So I’m only trading players if it returns big picks or is 1 for 1 for a position of need (RHD). Of course, depth players on expiring contracts can be used to accumulate more mid-to-late round picks, but we should be holding onto our top tier players unless the return will give us a shot a better player.
