Are you not overvalueing Petry by super extreme high margin?

the 1st is more likely than Glass in that deal. And I dont think Petry is worth 1st.

Demand maybe large compared to supply this year, so it could be possible a 1st, but not a top ten pick barely into elc. Glass probably scoops stasny in top 6 in not too distant future.

Yeah it is possible based on demand and supply, but if MTL gets 1st alone for him, it would be a steal. Glass is a top-line center on Vegas in 2 years time.

I agree here that no way Petry can fetch someone like Glass, but to suggest Petry isn’t worth a 1st is ridiculous....

He is not worth straight up 1st. Id say more like conditional 2nd which might turn into 1st.. I wouldnt trade 1st for Petry.

What explanation do you have to suggest that? It’s been talked about (on both Sportsnet and TSN) that Petry would likely get what LAK got for Muzzin if not more since Petry is a RD and could be had at a cheaper cap hit with MTL possibly retaining salary.

Holy heck thats an overpayment. I mean.. he is good, but he is not Muzzin good. Petry is not that good defensively but he is good offensively. Solid player overall, but 1st plus two very good prospects? Nah.. I just dont see him being as valuable as Muzzin..

Glass is worth more than Krebs, Krebs has roughly the same value as DeAngelo, DeAngelo has a lot more value then Petry. Therefoee this is a terrible take.

Rielly is 7 years younger than Petry and already better. Petry had 25 points as 24yr old, Rielly 72. Petry is better defensively but overall its not even in the same universe.

Yes really close, Petry is a late bloomer, but if you s coach have to choose between those 2 for a match 7, who do you think they’ll pick ? Not sure, but you seems upset Petry is ( right now ) as good as Reilly is. So would you trade a 2nd for Reilly, no.

Rielly at age 32 might have norris or multiple ones. He is that good. And defensively meh, but Petry is similarly defensively meh. Rielly has one less point than Petry this season, injured and with **** partner for most of the year. Stop it. If I had to choose between those two for match 7, Id pick Rielly, because he is a beast in playoffs, unlike Petry who has been pretty underwhelming in both playoffs he appeared in in last 6 years. Im not upset, Im just questioning whether or not you know who Rielly is.

I agree with Glass and a first being a gross overpayment for Jeff Petry, but the expectation that he'd draw a comparable return to what the Leafs paid for Muzzin in not wrong.

The Tatar deal is fine, though there are other destinations that make more sense -- DAL, COL, CGY and EDM especially.

I like the Kovalchuk for Puljujarvi idea as an elegant way to help EDM out of a sticky situation. It would surely require some future considerations in the event Puljujarvi returns to North Am and actually becomes the player his draft profile suggested he'd be. My guess is he signs in the KHL and spends his career there. Replace Weal with Kulak.

Whichever team loses out on the Pageau sweepstakes should take Weal.

I think the Habs should keep Scandella and re-sign him. He seems a stabilizing influence and happy to be home. It would mean Habs wouldn't have to rush Romanov and would have the luxury to dangle Mete if the right deal were on the table.

Totally agree, especially with salary retained on the extra year. Petry makes his gaffes but he logs huge minutes in all situations and is super durable. He's proven he can play #1D minutes effectively if those in front of him fall to injury, which has happened often enough in Montreal. That alone has huge value for playoff bound teams where injuries can pile up unexpectedly.

He's like Ray Bourque in his prime. You want the best, you have to pay for it.

Reilly most of is assists are on the PP. Petry is playing with Cousins & Weal on the PP when Reilly have Marner Matthews & Tavares with him. Think about it
