Leafs

Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 26, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Leafs are obviously in the market for a top pairing d-man, but there really aren't any out there that they could acquire and be comfortable with the assets they're giving up. So, what if they traded for a goalie that could be their 1B option down the stretch. This doesn't mean they can't still acquire a 2nd or 3rd pairing defenceman for depth.

The Leafs are essentially giving up a future first for a player who has made it clear that he wants to have some sort of consistency long term and remain with one team. The Leafs already have a starter in Frederik Andersen and they have some guys coming up in the next few years or so. Plus they plan to go after some KHL guy in free agency. As a backup option, I could see.

It's fine if you want Dillon and even half salary retained just stop with the lowballing Leafs fans!!!

A 2nd MINIMUM. If that's too much for you then just watch him go to the Canes or Isles or elsewhere...

Aquiring another starting goalie does not solve the lack of D depth or top 4 defender, it doesn't make any sense

Marginally upgrade for the Leafs this season. How many games would Lehner actually play? And Dillon sure he's an upgrade over Ceci, but it forces Dermot to the unknown right side. Would any team pay a first and that in the Leafs case, the pick might be in the teens.
