I bet Philly is going to take that. 1 goal combined between those two useless players that both should retire.

These might possibly be the most one-sided trades ever suggested on this site... and I've been accused of suggesting quite a few of those. Bravo, sir. The crown is yours.

Do you just said Byron is a useless player that should retire? You do know he is injured since november 19, right ? You probably have no idea who he is I guess.

Yes that is exactly what I said. Yes I know he is injured as well as injured twice last year. He will never be the same hockey player as he once was. Did I mention yes he should retire.

Then you are even more stupid than the proposed trade. Sorry mate. Byron is far from useless, when healthy. I can pass on Kulak cause he is an okay player, but I can't let you say this about Byron. The guy is so dangerous when healthy, especially on P.K.

Yah 1 goal in 20 games, that is on pace for 4 goals this year in a full season. hopefully he comes back and gets 2 goals this year for 3.4 million or 1.7 million a goal. Was your PK number 1 in the league when he played? Were they even top 10. I think 2 years ago they were last in the league. Dont worry though I got a bet going with another Habs fan for next year if Byron gets 20 goals, I picked 5. so we will see who wins. 4 years of that crappy contract left. Good luck with him, hope he gets good and healthy again, but at his age 30, it will be hard, he played to hard to fast for lots of years.

Sure he had a slow start prior to his injury. So what, look at his 4 past seasons in MTL. Extremely good production for a guy that is considered a bottom-6 player. I never said we collectively have a good P.K, I'm saying he is very efficient on that P.K. Guy Boucher, former NHL HC, said recently on air that you need to adjust your gameplan to a guy like him because you know he will burn all your D-man with his speed. That keeps you from playing agressive hockey. So no, Byron is in no way done and when healthy, he is far from useless. Sorry man but you never watched him closely if you think so.

Yes we lose the best players in that one for sure but we can signkovy in the summer and we upgrade Cou sins and Thompson with Bennett and janko. We get pucks for petry and Brodie. Frees up mo ey for next year but will need to find rRD for next year maybe sign Brodie or Barrie or petriangelo

Indeed. at 3.4 its not a crappy contract for a guy that could fill any role on all 4 lines. I don't know who your team is, but if a regular 30-40 pts producer, at 30 years old, who brings so much more to a team than just goals, is useless and should retire, for fu**sake I don't know what your team made of...

Jankowski isn’t an upgrade on Cousins, Bennett is a 4th liner, Brodie will walk this summer ( Brodie isn’t needed ) so we got a 1st for Petry ? If we trade Kovy and Petry it’s for quality, not quantity

Cousins and Thompson are both 4 th liners and they are brutal. Bennett and Janko both younger and way more upside left. So the are both and upgrade over them and they are signed longer. So we get a first and Brodie for petry and a 3rd for kovy which is a freebie anyway. Plus we free up money for this summer and can still sign kovy for next year

Whaaaht? Ok, I'll play along. Let's argue for a moment that Petry is worth a 1st AND a 3rd, and just park that. You're saying Kovalchuk (rental), Thompson (rental) and Cousins (rental, with RFA rights) are worth Bennett (with another year at $2.5M), Brodie (rental UFA) and Jankowski (rental, with RFA rights) . I don't see it. Bennett would be a useful piece in the Habs next year, as would Jankowski. Brodie would likely hit the market as a UFA so he's not a major piece other than to move contracts and cap.

Dont need a 4th liner at 2.5M and he’ll want more next contract. Jankowski is good defensively, that’s it. Thompson is better than Janko at everything + he’s a veteran in the locker room. Brodie is useless since we’re not doing the playoffs so no value for MTL, yes they could flip him but CGY can do that without including Brodie in this trade. 3rd = Kovy. So for Petry, I would like their 2020 1st + Pelletier

Yes I believe he is but I would be satisfied with the 1st and 3rd plus the 5.5 cap space saved for next year. I believe there is RD UFA that we should be looking at to replace him. That’s why I’m ok with Brodie wLking in the deal.

Thompson is gone either way at trade deadline I think turning with into janko is a good idea even if janko sits in press box I would love to upgrade cousins too Bennett he’s tough pkYs hard and there is a ton of untapped potential I think kk or suzicki even domi can bri g it out of him yet and he is still young

He's really not. He's a fine player, but he's a massive lifetime minus player on a team that scores a lot of even-strength goals. I'm not going to bad-mouth him here, but a low-20s first and a third is a reasonable take for a player with his mix. He's not an elite point producer and a so-so defender. He does eat lots of minutes, which is valuable on a team like the Habs, but it would be a stretch to expect more than what the Leafs paid for Muzzin -- which was a first, a prospect (Durzi) and a fringe prospect.

Petry for 1st 3rd and Brodie even though he is a ufa isn’t like he has no value he is still top 4 Defensemen. That would be a decent haul.
