Why would Carolina give up the first for 2 months of Barrie?

I guess the theory is because Hamilton is lost for the year.

That's not confirmed yet. He could be back about the same time Rielly comes back for Toronto

I hope so. All of the teams deserve to be at full strength for the playoffs. And I can sit on the sidelines and watch. It'll be nice to see good hockey played by both teams on the ice.

This is horrible. Minnasota is gonna give up an Elite defenseman for bad stuff? Also Why would the leafs get an offensive defenseman? Also Rielly is on ltir

No Nylander, no Dumba.

That's ridiculous, why would the Leafs give up a guy who is on pace for 30+ goals and 70+ points for a guy who has taken a HUGE step back offensively especially given that offense was all he brought to the table

I agree, they wouldn't. But if they want Nylander, they'll have to. In other words, Toronto isn't getting Dumba.

Why do you assume it would cost Nylander when he is clearly the more valuable asset? Also why would any GM not listen to offers that doesn't include a certain player if it still has the ability to benefit his team?

In a vacuum, Nylander and Dumba are very close value wise, but Toronto's DESPERATE need for a defender makes Dumba by far the more valuable asset here. Minnesota don't need Nylander, Toronto NEED Dumba

No, actually, they don't. Dumba is an offensive d-man (of which Toronto has plenty) who has been bad since his injury. He has very little defence in his game and considering his offence has dropped, he doesn't bring much to the table. In a vacuum, Nylander is the far more valuable asset

I've worked through the Dumba trade to Toronto a bunch on here and I've kinda concluded that it's not happening. Wild have to many wings. Kapanen isn't really better than Kunin, Kerfoot is a 3rd line center and Wild like JEEK there, Johnsson, who you didn't offer but most trades on here do offer is yet another left shot wing so not a fit either.
I don't see why Leafs would move Nylander so I think Dumba to Toronto is effectively dead.

I'd refer you to analytics, but clearly your thinking with your fandom and not your brain so I won't!
