Marner is easily my favourite player but he is not worth that much. But he won’t fetch you a top pairing defenseman.

I love Zegras, but purely skill wise I'd take Marner over his ceiling any day, that Marner contract is rough though

Id have to disagree, for 1/2 a year of Karlsson not guaranteed he would resign the Sharks paid a 1st, 2nd, 2 Roster Players, & a Two Good quality prospects.

Id say 4 Years of Marner even at that cap hit would get pretty close to that or more if i am being honest.

Most accurate comparable would most likely be Hall Which got a 1st & 3 Very solid prospects. Now that is only for 1/2 a Year imagine what Hall would have gotten with 5 Years locked up would be

Is Manson and his 5 points in 29 games really that special now? It's 2020. Rather just LHD Dermot signed next year and by this post, NOT have Muzzin at 6m or Manson at 4.1m

Johnsson or kerfoot and the leafs extra 4th and a 7th (rounds ducks dont have picks) will get you manson.

Marner without question but Zegras is magician by himself.

Marner without question has the highter ceiling and is franchise player for the Leafs. Marner is a player that makes everyone he plays with a better player and is at a whole different level above Zegras.

Yeah, I’d say Marner for sure. Zegras could end up being great for sure, but one of these guys is performing as an elite playmaker at the NHL level already, and the other hasn’t even become a pro yet.

If Zegras can be somewhere around Nylander level, I’d be content.

Don’t even know what it’d take from the Ducks to even get a sniff of Marner. Manson+top prospect not named Zegras+Rakell++++++++

Its not that Manson isn't a decent player, he certainly is good and fits some needs for TO. However, if the asking price is based on him being a upper echelon RHD, then I'm out. He's not worth more than Muzzin who is a better player. So if something like Johnsson and another minor asset isn't enough, then he's not worth getting. Someone else can pay more if they value him more.

With that said, I still think the Ducks should be more eager to move him. They are going no where fast and getting as many future assets as possible is important for their future.

I think it would be a matter of leafs either dealing Johnsson somewhere else for futures(I have suggested Nashville for allard +) then flip them for Manson. Even if we had to add a little. The other option would be a 3 way trade.
