Pittsburgh traded their 1st rd pick in : 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018. Since 2015, not a single player you drafted played an NHL game. I mean, at some point, you guys should start fulfill the pipeline. Hallander and Addison are pretty much your only good prospects with Légaré and Poulin.

Nah. They only have a few more years of Crosby and Malkin as elite players. Any future pick is probably not going to help in that window. Most of their prospects probably won't be great players during that time as well.

Rutherford is not giving (basically) four 1sts+ to pay $10.5M cap though a guy's 34th year.

he's probably not, as with most trade on this site... but this guy you are talking about is Patrick Freaking Kane. If you have no problem paying Sidney Crosby 8.7 million until he is 37 you should have no problem paying Patrick Kane until he is 34.

Oh, Patrick Kane is off the table BTW so Pits will have to look elsewhere for their big acquisition.

Elite players don't drop off at the same age as everyone else does. I'd have no problem paying Kane $10.5M until he's 34.

The Pens are actually about to pay Sidney close to nothing. The cap hit will remain at 8.7 but he has already earned most of his contract. You might know this, but having extra cash is a benefit even if you don't have the cap to show for it.

I see the actual cash being paid aspect of this as negligible. Sure, having extra cash in the budget is nice, however, I think most people would much rather have cap flexibility (In times of contention) than money in the budget that they cannot use.

I don't think PITs will be okay with being at the bottom of the league even after Crosby and Malkin are past their prime. Once these teams get a taste of how it is at the top (Money IS a factor) they are not likely to go back to before that time. They'll probably coast on their (Crosby and Malkins) legacy until the fans are angry and demand a full rebuild.

Did fine without crosby not that we dont need him. I dont think it will be as bad as most people think. Like Florida, pens players are underrated.

Hawks say no. Dont want your scraps and late 1st/2nd round draft picks. Would rather just keep the face of the franchise and make one more run with him in another 2 years when we're out of the rebuild/reool
