the promotions for thomas, blais, and soon kyrou along with shipping bokk in the faulk trade really decimated the top end of st louis's prospect pool

I'd put Almeida Miletic Puustinen Drozg or (sighs) Bellerive over Judd or Bjorkqvist, and probably Pavlychev if you're talking ceiling into account

Yes, but the one thing that seldom gets mentioned about the Faulk trade is just how good the Blues powerplay has become this year after being an embarrassment last year. Of course, it isn't all attributable to Faulk. In fact, his stats don't reveal a lights-out defender on the powerplay, but I wonder how much he has taught the other players off the ice that those players now do on the ice that they weren't doing in years before. Perhaps I'm way off here, but I'm just curious.

He plays ultimately better than Hofer normally.

I think it has more to do with Savard being the PP coach than Faulk honestly. Also, and I know this will be controversial, Tarasenko is not a QB and he shouldn't be used as such which seems to have helped as well.

Yeah the prospect pool is not good which is another reason why the Blues should not trade their first this year.
