Lower that term to 2 years for Barzal. You guys are going to have a rude awakening on contracts this summer.

I'd say lower Barzal term and probably increase money.

I bet Lou gives him a short term bridge deal. One that has a ridiculous QO at the end. Those are so bad and people just don't get it.

You have been way off on almost every RFA contract in the last year. You’re only saying this to get a reaction - just because you want something to happen doesn’t mean it will actually happen.

Barzal will most likely get 9.5-10 x 6 , pulock 6.5 x 5 , toews 4 x 4.

I think this is slightly inflated. Yes, this is your team, but Barzal is not better than Rantanen, who got less term than that. (i factored in the position difference)

Expect this to go deep into the summer as Dubois and Barzal play tag with who signs first. I could see him getting between 8-9M though. Pulock assessment is fair. He's undervalued. Hoping he takes a slight discount because the defensive system the team has deeply inflates their worth. I'd prefer 6x5. I went with 3 years on Toews because he isn't completely proven as a top 3 guy yet. To me, consistency warrants term and recent performance $ - not opposed to 4x4 though

If the isles want to lock up barzal long term, they will need to give him between 9.5-10.5. In an offensive minded system , barzal would be an 85-95 pt player (look at his rookie season). Lou lamoriello already said in an interview that barzal will get a long term deal.

Of course I’d like if barzal was signed for cheaper, but it’s not happening.

Like I’ve said before, Barry trotz system can only do so much - isolated metrics prove pulock is a top pairing guy without BT. Is he elite? Not yet - but it is ignorant to give most of the credit to BT

I didn't think anyone would go for those short term bridges, they are not at all wise long term. I was wrong but they are not going to look good in a couple of years. Barzal is the best player on the Islanders, if he signs long term it's going to be big money. Otherwise a short term now and huge a few years later

The closest comparable to barzal is aho. He signed for 8.5 x 5 last summer. 9.5-10 x 6 is “big money” and it’s good for barzal and the team.

Even if barzal signed a bridge deal for 3 years, it would likely be for 7 mill AAV and his QO would be somewhere between 9-9.5, which is not bad at all, but that’s not happening anyways so nothing to worry about.

Pulock gets 7 or 8 years I think. He'll be 26 when this contract starts.

Barzal is probably doing 3yrs from 8-9 Mil. He's already stated how he thinks younger players should be getting paid big so don't be surprised to see a bit of time to get his contract done. He could do 4 but whatever happens can't sign him to a 5 yr deal.
