Rutherford ready to make a deal according to reporters and other Gms

Created by: Nights_King93
Team: 2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 27, 2020
Published: Jan. 27, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Reports also stating that Rutherford is also content with his D.. Which would seem to mean that JJ and Schultz are staying and guys like Brodin and Martinez aren't coming.

The desire is a top 6 forward and the first is on the table.

While some are saying Tatar or Zucker, I think he may land a bigger fish if he is content with his D.

If Jake comes back, you bump Kahun down.

Before Nashville loses their mind, this is just the type of guy I think he is searching for. And the type of package he'd give up if he were able to.
Trades
NSH
  1. Galchenyuk, Alex
  2. Joseph, Pierre-Olivier
  3. Poulin, Samuel
  4. 2020 1st round pick (PIT)
  5. 2021 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
I think if he could land a guy like Forsberg.. Who is still relatively young and on a good deal. He would consider giving up Poulin and POJ. Bonino is a +/- monster on a struggling Nashville team, I'd welcome him back to be 3C in a second.

Maybe they move Bjugstad as part of a three team deal.

Crosby dishing Forsberg would be filthy but..... I still think Zucker is destined to have a penguin on his chest within the next month.

I feel you are correct. My guess is that it happens mid-February. About a weekish prior to the deadline. He will then move Galchenyuk for a pick most likely and thats it.

Haha. I made this particular trade because I had this exact vision. Simon is actually the perfect player to feed those two as well.

If Zucker ends up being a Pen I will not be upset. He is a very skilled player as well. I just feel like Forsberg would be a "can't miss"

I hate to be that guy, but you know your going to get robbed in the deal right? You know how good Zucker is but it seems your management doesn't. He will be a beast in the pens and you are going to get a 20 point winger, pojo, and a conditional first lol

You have to remember that Guerin was on the other side of the failed Kessel for Zucker trade last summer, so I think he does realize how good he is. We wouldn't be trading him because he isn't good, rather we need space in our top 6 for Kaprizov next season. Parise and Zuccarello are immovable, and Fiala is young and has been our most skilled forward, so Zucker is the odd man out. I'll reserve judgement on "getting robbed" until I see the actual trade, but I would be happy with a 1st, one of Pittsburgh's good forward prospects, and possibly another pick depending on the prospect.

I could see Forsberg from the Predators but we don't need Bonino as he is overpaid to begin with. He adds nothing that McCann or Blueger can't do.

You haven't watched how bad the Preds are some nights and how steady Bonino is.

Bonino has 14 goals, 12 assists, and is a +16
McCann has 14,14, and is +12.
Blueger has 7,10, and is +4.

Bonino also wins 54 percent of faceoffs. McCann and Blueger win 47%.

Unless you don't know how important it is to be a two-way player that can win the big faceoffs in the playoffs, it is of paramount importance. I'd take Bonino in a big Forsberg deal. I'd also just take Bonino if they could move Jugs and the assets pretty much washed out.

And YES I do watch the Predators every game because I coached one of the players on that team (Rocco Grimaldi) and yes Bones is solid but he costs too much money for what we need. We already have great depth at center and we don't need him. You obviously like him because he's played for us during the Cup winning years but he's moved on and is too expensive. Forsberg fits more of what we need on the Wing and he'd be deadly with Sidney passing him the puck.

I completely agree with the Forsberg points but I just don't see how Bones is not still an important piece, particularly if they try to ship out Jugs and/or Galchenyuk. He has a price tag but I think it is appropriate.

Side note, Grimaldi is a heck of a player as well. Really like the energy he brings.

very interesting proposal. not one that I've seen proposed. I'd be shocked to see Nashville shopping Forsberg but the trade isn't unreasonable. Maybe even throw Bjugstad in the deal. But if you can get these guys in the deal, I dig it.

Fair enough.. Haha. But normally when people like Yohe talk about it then something happens shortly after. I see it being in the next week.

people keep looking at LW.
He's stated multiple times he wants a RW.
I think if he makes a move, it's on the RW.
That's the biggest hole on the team going forward. He's not making a move just for this year.

I have seen him say this as well.. But I took it as.. We could still trade for a RW. Not.. We are only looking at RW.

Possible RWs on the roster.

Simon
Rust
Hornqvist
Tanev
ZAR
Jugs
Kahun

Guys who perform far better on the right wing (it seems)

Simon
Rust
Hornqvist

Tanev and ZAR can play either. But Rusty looks like an elite player on the RW sometimes. Forcing him to the left was likely a mistake for years.

When I look at the roster, I just feel like RW is more settled, even when Jake does return.

Look at that list. Other than Rust, how many top 6 RW do you see?
Simon isn't one. Tanev is a great player, he's not a top line RW.
Hornqvist is not either.

It's the biggest hole. On the LW they can go Jake and McCann. Which seems to be their preference.
But on the RW? they don't really have anything there.
He wants a guy with term. Not just a rental. A guy who fits the system. And a RW.
He's dropped every single hint on this.
I think if he makes a move it's for a RW.

Simon isn't a top line right wing. But either Sully or Sid insist that he is. So I've just learned to accept it.

Something has to change that's for sure. He couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with that shot.

I was at the Boston game and I couldn't believe he finished that shot at a bad angle with a snipe. I said he literally misses wide open nets sometimes but this is the shot he makes... So maybe he is improving. It'd be great for him to get some shot-making confidence and ride it through one playoff run.

And like I said, Simon is a perfect possession/third unit guy to me. But I have accepted him as Sid's linemate until Sully isn't coaching anymore or Rutherford trades him.
