It would be hard to gauge a good value on the guy. RyJo will be 28 next season, and signed for $8mil aav until he's 33. Would NSH be interested in moving him?

Probably not, but what hockey trade could you even offer without MTL breaking even at best

im surprised this is the team that even expresses any interest.

fair value would probably be to swap him for drouin (nsh adds) /or/ tatar and a pick given (from mtl) if a bit of RyJo was retained.

doubt habs will do that though.

It would depend if NSH want to move RyJo's contract, because that is the most concerning part imo. I don't think it diminishes his value too much, but paying a guy $8mil for 5 more seasons into his mid 30s when he hasn't hit 65pts+ since 2015 is a big red flag. Which is why I wouldn't be interested in moving young assets and/or picks.

and I think the only players MTL has that are close to the same age as RyJo are Danault, Armia (both 1 year younger), Gallagher (same age), and Tatar (1 1/2 older). I highly doubt MTL move Danault or Gallagher under any circumstance. Armia probably isn't enough. Tatar contracts expires after next season (maybe with an extension in place?).

Probably not a fit with MTL with regards to a hockey trade

yeah I think there would be a zero % chance Habs flip Drouin, whose almost 4 years younger, for RyJo. Tatar and a pick I'd be interested, an extension with Tatar would have to be in place though, and not sure if NSH would even be interest in Tatar.

I would think Domi would be the odd one out. If the Habs were to get Johansen, they would then run Suzuki, Johansen, Danault and Kotkeniemi up the middle. At wing, they would have Gallagher, Drouin, Tatar, Domi, Lehkonen, Armia and Poehling. Or, if Poehling took Thompson's fourth-line centre role, Suzuki pops back onto the wing. So either Tatar or Domi would be the logical player heading out.

As a Nashville fan, sure but what are you offering? I'd do Domi one for one.

Nah if we're selling RyJo we're looking to get younger to reopen the window somewhat. Tatar would be another aging player on the roster that is already one of the oldest in the NHL. That's not going to be a recipe for success

NSH would have to add in that case. Domi is 3 years younger and has out performed RyJo for the past 2 years, and since he’s still and RFA , his cap will be lower than RyJo as well. So the piece being added better be good.
