This doesn't help the Jets like so many think it would.

Seriously it's time to trade Wheeler.

He should retire as a jet
Plus it’s unrealistic. See that contract?

Not sure I would do that deal. I think there are similar caliber Dmen available that wouldnt cost you Ehlers.
I do think the jets need to move one of their top 6 F's. I wouldnt move Scheifle, Ehlers, Connor, or Wheeler and Little has no value right now . I wonder if the jets float the idea of trading Laine this summer? It could land them a top dman. it would be tough cause he'll probably go on and score 30 plus goals a season, but Im still not sold on his overall play. Cash in now

I find hockey trades so hard to do when both teams aren't exactly trading strengths for weaknesses and aren't aligned similarly in overall direction of the team.

I feel like Winnipeg wants to try and win now while Minny should be trying to rebuild. If that's the case, Minny should move Dumba for picks and prospects, not a player who can help them right now.

Do you think Dumba and a pick for vesalainen would be good?

IMO no. If anything it should be a pick with Veselainen for Dumba.

Dumba is having a very down year
Vesalainen is overlooked as a top 10 forward prospect
IMO he is

Says who, he's still producing at a good rate, I bet there'd be contenders who'd be interested in Wheeler.

Do you know of many good players who never have a down year? I don't. If you make up your mind on a player only on their down years, you always selling low and that isn't GM's tend to want to do.

If he has a couple years in a row of poor hockey then its a streak. Otherwise I don't think he's finished as a player after one bad year. Veselainen hasn't done anything to deserve being a top 10 prospect yet so I think that statement is purely preference at this point.

Lmao, I don’t think they’d even be able to afford him
They’d have to retain salary and I don’t think wpg would even want to deal him
Plus Pittsburgh has 0 assets
Who would they give up

I value an high end defenseman more than a quality forward. As a winger, (unless you highly skilled like Patrick Kane) you are as good as your centre. I am not criticizing the Wild centres, but Ehlers would thrive on a team like Pittsburgh.

The value of an elite defenceman, who plays against the opposition’s best forwards, grinds it out every game for 20+ minutes, and can contribute offensively should be recognized higher than consist 30 goal scorer, simply in my opinion, that quality of defenceman is rarer.

Dumba’s value is probably lower this season, but I think the Wild could fetch more than Ehlers.

Good gawd really?
Bjustad and Galchenyuk combined make what Wheeler makes, the Jets would obviously want something else of value but the point is if Rutherford wanted Wheeler and Chevy is willing to trade him a deal could be worked out that'd work for both sides.

Meh, and teams have won cups and gotten to the final with pretty average D cores, defense is overrated and I was a defenseman.

Both players are having a down year. Bjugs is overpaid. Compared to that, wheeler has astronomical value
The only pieces PIT would give up would maybe be newly extended Pettersson, Simon, POJ, I don’t even know
But that is highly unrealistic

Did you read my comment? Bjustad and Galchenyuk would be included to make the cap work for the Pens, neither has much value at this point especially Galchenyuk. The Pens have some other assets that i could see helping the Jets both now and in the future.

I could see this working quite well for both teams, the Pens are in win now mode and the Jets need to retool and it's likely to take more then just one offseason to return to contender status.

Jets don’t need a retool. With the roster they’ve composed they’ve done fine

Just off the top of my head. The Hawks win in ‘15. No way would they have won if not for super human abilities of Duncan Keith. He rightly deserved the Conn Smythe, and I hate that award, cause NHL gets it wrong more than not.
