Hit the nail right on the head here.. Guys like freaking Lehner got five million for one good playoff series playing behind a gimmick system. Matt Murray won two darn cups. Pens fans are going to lose their mind if he carries them to a third and gets 7 million per.

Goalies have extreme hot streaks and they also get cold. Look at John Gibson this year. He is having a lot of Murray-like games. Pens fans need to go back and see how many goalies have won three cups. Matt has a good chance of doing that if the Pens keep him for three seasons.

hard to estimate Murray's number till after the end of the year. Now is the time of year he usually turns it on and his play really kicks up.

I do think McCann makes roughly 4 not 3.
I think that contract is the next in line. It would not surprise me if it's done this week.
They would be really wise in finishing deals before bringing anyone else in.

I do know that this idea they got 6 million to spend on a winger like Zucker is kind of hokey.
They have somewhere between 11-12 million to dish out raises.
you add McCann and Kahun that's roughly 5 I think.
You add a 3RD, that's 1-2
Jarry is another 2 added putting high roughly 3 million.
you are at 8-9
If Murray gets 5 that's 2 more or so.
you are at 10-11.
I don't see how they add a 5 million winger without someone leaving. like Jugs or Hornqvist.
And moving Jugs creates a hole at 3C so how much cap will it really save.

He hasn't carried them to a cup yet. Yes he did okay decent during their playoff runs but nothing outstanding . It was lead by their outstanding dominant offense

Dude.. If you don't know anything about hockey don't comment. He literally shut out Nashville for two games to finish it off. He also kept a team in a game when they didn't register ONE shot for two full periods early in the series. Matt was very good in the playoffs. If Jarry did what Murray has done in the playoffs the "what have you done for me lately" Pens fans would give him ten million a year.

I'm not saying Murray is absolute garbage. But as a preds fan who watched he played well but between the powers overpowering offense and our lack of it is the reason they won! (Rinne played outstanding

Rinne did play great... In games three and four. Not hard to look good at times when the team in front of you literally doesn't allow a shot to get through for 38 minutes..

But to think the Pens won the cup in 2017 for any reason other than OUTSTANDING goaltending... You didn't watch the games. Flower stonewalled the Caps. Then Matt came back and stone walled the Sens. He played phenomally in games 1,2,5, and 6 in the Stanley Cup Final. You can't say that Murray wasn't elite when the two biggest games of the year for your team resulted in 0 goals....

Lehner also had a nearly Vezina calibre season and spectacular "advanced" numbers, and only got a 1 yr prove it deal, Murray also didn't carry the team to two cups, they got drastically outplayed by WSH on round two... Goalie that series, MAF... Iirc, both years they both split the games roughly two series per, and since then he's been extremely underwhelming, has had injury issues, and has lost his job to Jarry, and if the pens win this year, the best he'll be able to hope for is another 2/2 series split with Jarry... He won't carry them to a cup this year
