Description
Using the Kessel (Tor - Pit) trade as a template
Kessel was 1 season removed from back to back 80 pt seasons at the time.
- Pelletier has similar value to Kapanen at the time (likely makes the NHL, might amount to more).
- Bennett and Jankowski could use a refresh and are here for cap purposes but still are young and solid depth pieces at worse.

I don't see NSH retaining that much or adding a 3rd. Counter with Hamonic + Bennett + 2nd + 4th for Johansen (retained $800,000)

https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1593568 my idea was to flip him to TOR

"- Pelletier has similar value to Kapanen at the time (likely makes the NHL, might amount to more)."

Pelletier is one of the more over valued prospects out there. He is 5'9" to the top of his cap and does not play a game that translates well to the NHL, I am not saying small players cant make it but they have to come with more speed than Pelletier does, or at least have one specific skill that is eye popping. Pelletier is a decent player don't get me wrong, but what makes him a junior standout is that he does everything good but nothing great.

I get that he is scoring well this year but he is playing on an absolutely stacked team (of which he is not the leading scorer) in a league where a goalie considers it a great year if his sv% cracks .905.

You also aren't going to get Nashville to retain money for another 6 seasons.

Bennett is a 3rd liner at best, if Jankowski has any value at all its negative value.

I don't even know if Johansen even moves the needle that much for Calgary.

This is not a very good proposal.

I like the addition of Hamonic to Nashville for a playoff push..
Johanson straight no retain for Hamonic, Pelletier, Bennett seems fair for both team needs

The retention number is based off of the Kessel trade but 800k is fine too. Flames arent trading Hamonic without another RD better then Stone coming back. Outside of the idea of flipping Hamonic (because of the above point) my trade has better value

The entire premise of this trade is Nashville isnt trying to make a playoff push and is looking to retool around Forsberg, Duchene, Arvidsson, their defense and prospects
