Trades
1.
ANA
  1. Lee, Anders
Additional Details:
So, on this side... Lee has a nasty nasty contract. He’s a great players with a good amount of points on a contending team. I realize he is your captain but getting the cap space could help New York try and pick up players such as Toffoli, Kreider, or Pageau.
NYI
  1. Rakell, Rickard
Additional Details:
Rakell has a great contract and is young. He’s one point short of match Anders Lee and looks to be a top line forward. Adding to that we’ll throw in a pick to help sweeten the deal.

Doubt if the captain of a good team is going to waive his NTC and play with this edition of the Ducks.

Isles would accept but Lee isn't waiving. Rakell would be great here though. Would be a quality player for Lou to target

What a terrible trade for Anaheim. Why would they do this?

Isles wouldn't accept. Value wise, this absolutely favors NYI, but Lee is our captain and has been really good this year. He's scoring nice goals at a nice pace. He's always been a little streaky, but he's still on pace for 27 goals and 50 points. I know that's not $7M production, but given everything else he provides to NYI, he's maybe overpaid by $1M.

Isles would absolutely love Rickard Rakell, but he'd be to upgrade the forward group, not replace Lee.

I'm confused.

Aren't you supposed to make an argument as to why Anaheim should do this? What exactly is the incentive here? A team that is headed for a retool/rebuild is actively searching out an almost 30 year old winger and trading him for a cheaper younger player whose actually produced quite similarly? Not too mention the Captaincy, the NTC, etc etc

Not that I think one player is better than the other but the motives in this trade don't exactly make any sense IMO.
