As for the SJS trade they would
Make it minus the 2020 2nd (you can change it but SJS isn’t in the business to lose more assets for development)

as a MTL Fans I really like that trade. Probably change the 2nd and 3rd for 3rd and 4th and it's a deal.

That's a tough one to judge, for now I dont think they do it, Alzner isnt hurting their cap, Domi is probably gonna resign for $7, and you really dont know what Strome you're getting. If you're getting with Panarin Strome and a good 2C MTL wins, if you get Edmonton Strome then MTL loses.

I'm not sure Detroit is ready to trade Cholowski. Take out the douchebag (Andersson) and the trade gets a whole lot better.

Very tempting MTL trade but ultimately keeping Alzner is really no problem for the Habs. They have tons of cap space and are not a playoff team in need of shedding extra cap to be able to make runs at the cup. Perfectly fine letting that terrible signing just finish.

Now Domi for Skjei, Strome etc is solid, I think the need for LHD has died down a little with the idea of Romanov coming over next year AND the Habs looking ready to retool yet again. Also just me personally, Im still still not sold on Strome. NYR are smart to get full value for him if they can but if its me, I still ain't getting him unless the price is moderately low. A player like that, I want to see repeated success year after year before paying full price on him.

Either way solid offer but I personally would pass. Just not the right fit.

the MTL trade is pretty tempting, but I'll have to agree with @F50marco about Strome. except the same thing could be said about Domi. NYR could get Arizona Domi as well.

Overall I am not against trading Domi.

Potentially. Although strome has already been traded twice and NYR are licking their chops thinking about what they could get for Strome now. Rather than wanting to keep him. Did we Habs fans start creating Domi trades half way through the year last year? Not really. The contrary actually, he became "untouchable" instead. That's where I see my difference.

Another way to look at it could be, based on what we've seen from both players careers so far, which one would you bet your life on not being a pretender? Me, its Max Domi and its not even close.

wouldn't it be better if Skjei was switched out for K'Andre Miller. We need miller more than we do Skjei

I mean at the crux of it, Habs needs at the start of the year was a LHD to play with Shea Weber, so that's why a NYR fan would probably think Skjei is the player we'd need. The thing is, although that is still true, the teams direction has changed. They are not making the playoffs this year and are looking to trade away assets for picks and prospects at this point. Domi is a player the Habs could want to keep so there is no rush to move him. He's young, he likes playing here and he's done nothing but produce ever since he got here.

Ultimately I don't think Domi is the player the Habs should focus on trading right now. To get what they want, they should look to other players to trade first. Petry, Tatar, etc. Than after all is said and done, see if a Domi trade makes sense.

That's all to say that the value is good in the trade. Just not the right time for the Habs to pull the trigger IMO.
