That right side is realllyyy weak, worse than 2019-2020 IMO & Mike smith might be wasted money I dont think hes a great goaltender even this year he has great numbers but he has a Top defensive team in front of him IIRC

That Dermott contract is ugly, way overvalued (Leafs fan on here seem to think he's a star while no one else does). You have also undervalued Engvall likely.

If that's the price to keep Dermott let's move him to a contender. Him and Kerfoot would make nice pieces with term for a lot of teams, Engvall can handle 3C (he's doing it right now) and you can pickup a better player to slot into that spot beside Rielly.

You're guaranteed to lose Hyman the next year unless he (and Freddie) take sweetheart deals. And why should they if nobody else has?

i have to disagree on the dermott contract, 2 comparable contracts recently signed with similar ages and numbers are marcus petterson on the pens who just got 4.025 / 5 years and flames rasmus anderson who got 4.550 / 6 years and dermott is right between both of them. so i dont see how i overvalued dermott versus these other guys.

also engvall has only 28 pro games he wont get any sort of payday yet i think he gets a 1 or 2 year prove your self deal and see what he can do.

How is Dermott right between those guys? They are both far better players then he is. If he thinks those are his comparables then the Leafs are in real trouble. Engvall is going to get a very similar deal to what Johnsson got a one year/one mil extension, it just makes too much sense.

Going to have to agree here. Dermott is likely to get a short term (maybe 3 years at 3M, maybe even a little less), not sure the Leafs are going to be comfortable giving him 6 years already.
