Starting point for trades with LA and Buffalo

Description
I personally believe the values are close but it's good enough to get these trades done. Jankowski and Bennett have asked to be moved apparently and they're being showcased right now and look to be playing better the last couple of games. Toss in the 2nd and seems like it would be good for LA. As for Buffalo, bogosian and Rodriguez want out and I think Sheary is a good middle 6 player to pair with backlund. Brodie adds some offence from the back end, czarnik can play in the NHL, and then a prospect. Debate if you like on the prospect we send I only did so much research on them and I don't like giving up top prospects.

Just a reminder this is just a starting point and I don't think we overpay for any of these players.

Also, just from what I saw, I'm hoping Buddy Robinson will work out and best case scenario he plays with Monahan and Gaudreau. He seems to have some chemistry with Gaudreau and could create some space and be a net front presence.

Originally I wanted Connor Brown and would take hainsey as our 7th defensemen but I figured brown was worth more than we'd like to pay...

Really no need for Brodie from the BUF side... i'd take czarnik and a mid-pick for sheary.

you can have bogosian for free if you can fit him in the cap

Buffalo trade is pretty bad
Bogo is a pretty big downgrade from Brodie, Sheary is an ok depth piece, and Rodrigues is significantly worse then Jankowski defensively and will have a more expensive qualifying offer next year

Yeah I agree but Brodie is gone so we should get something for him and bogosian is serviceable. We don't need another significant piece as we need to sign some players. Apparently jankowski and Bennett want out so they need to be replaced. The real pieces are sheary and Toffoli but yeah it could be better. Just don't want to spend a ton of cap space resigning players we don't need. Connor Brown from Ottawa I really like but I think he's out of reach...

How is Brodie gone? Unlike Brodie, Hamonic has been a train wreck this year and should not be resigned. The Jankowski and Bennett wanting out thing was said on Canucks radio and never surfaced again so it was false pretenses. Im all for that center depth and adding Toffoli (or similar) but Reider has been solid this year and should have a spot in the line up

I think they keep Hamonic over Brodie we just don't need him anymore. Hamonic brings more than Brodie in the way of grit and standing up for his teammates. Flames have been trying to get rid of Brodie for a while now he's a poor man's version of Tyson Barrie. The whole wanting out thing from jankowski and Bennett, I was told it was on tsn radio but I didn't hear it personally. I'd like to keep one of them, probably Bennett. Reider has been solid in the time he's had but will most likely rotate with Rinaldo and Robinson if he plays well. Just depends on the team we're playing.

Brodie and Barrie are completely different players Barrie is a 1 dimensional forward that plays on the blue line while Brodie is a puck moving defenseman, think more along the lines of Petry. The Bennett Jankowski thing was said in an interview on TSN 1040 Vancouver almost a week ago and literally no one else has even mentioned it in sports news so it seems like a false rumour.

What I'm saying is Brodie makes so many mistakes in his own end it's ridiculous. That along with the giveaways means we can't afford to have him back there during the playoffs anymore. Same with Barrie but he still puts up points so in general they're regarded the same way. The only reason Brodie even looks semi competent is because Giordano has been carrying him for years. But it doesn't matter because Brodie is on the way out and has barely any value otherwise he'd be gone a while ago. Don't get me wrong I've always liked him but sometimes you need to move on.

Hopefully it's all a false rumour about jankowski and Bennett but they still seem to be showcasing them right now. That's exactly the type of thing you put a lid on too.

Anyway, that's my opinion and how I look at things and you have your own. We'll see what happens in the next few weeks
