First of all, NO! A bunch of late 1sts and a pile of garbage doesn’t get you Dumba and Zucker! Second, can you please explain what purpose the Wild’s 6th round draft pick serves in this deal?

But Bjugstad is a 6 foot 6 inch hometown boy. lol. sorry an argument used from previous thread on his value. which at most is a 2nd round pick.

Now lets look at this trade,

Dumba value is probably a 1st round pick and a good prospect maybe a 4th added to that.

the 6th round pick well no reason for it like you said.

Zuckers value is a little less than that. not much

So POJ, 1st, Bjugstad for Dumba

Almeida is an ahl filler really doesn't add much.

JJ based on improved play this year is a 5/6 physical defenseman take contract into account he has no value at all.

That leaves a 1st and a 2nd/1st based on conditions for zucker.

It may not be the return you want but its not awful.

How is giving up three first round picks, a player that was just taken in the first round a few years ago, and a decent top 6 defenseman, for a forward who has only broken 60 points once, and a defenseman who only had one season over 34 points (and is currently 13TH on his team in points!!) not enough for the wild? That seems like a massive over payment to take on TWO huge contracts for the penguins. Dumba wouldn't even be good enough to play top 4 minutes for the pens.

Correct, and Minnesota fans are delusional.

Not giving up three 1sts + for an over priced complementary forward and a decent D. Wild fans have a grossly inflated view of Zucker. He has been around longer so he has a track record of doing it, but Zucker doesn't provide anything that it appears that Kahun and McCann are/will be doing. And they don't cost $5.5M, or insane trade cost.

3 firsts won`t help this team win Stanley cups in their window I would be alright going all in on these players because they have them for the next few years. Plus it gets rid of JJ. Dumba is having a down year but could be an elite dman.

I agree some people overvalue Zucker but theres no doubt he brings more to the table than Kahun and McCann despite them being good players as well. The money works though as they will be able to keep all of these players next season if they let Schultz walk which I believe they will because they can sign someone or have Addison step in. If they don`t have to give up this much then great obviously go for it but I would be willing to go this far to get this deal done.

Neither will Zucker and his contract.

3 years and 30+ goals a year on Sids wing?
Pretty sure Mike and Jim know what would help this team and this is a player they have been targeting for a long time.
Plus by getting rid of Gally and Bjugstad and probably not resigning Schultz they have no issues cap wise.

Montreal would keep Kovalchuk over trading him for a 3rd round pick.

You can argue that over their entire careers only 3 wingers had real improvements while on Crosby or Malkin wings. Assuming that someone will automatically play improve because they are with Crosby or Malkin is folly.

Everyone keeps calling Zucker a 30 goal scorer because he managed to do it once, since he entered the league in 2011. Take out that one fluke year (yeah, I said it) and Zucker is a 22g 40pt guy. For $5.5M. pass.

That trade is an easy no from MN.

3 1sts sounds good until you realize you're getting pick numbers 31, 28, and 28. Yes they can be nice players, but the chance of 1 player of either Zucker of Dumba quality isn't good.

It sounds even worse if Pit doesn't win a Cup and it's: 2 late 1sts + a late 2nd + a decent d-man prospect+ a guy who's less than .5ppg in the ECHL + a $3.25m x 3 cap dump d-man + a $4m x 1 made of glass hometown boy 3C.

Pick whichever draftpick value chart you like and run the numbers for those pick numbers compared with getting 2 teens 1sts. I like this one:

Since the 14-15 season until now. Zucker is tied (36th in the league) with E Kane and Burgeron at 100 even strength goals (NHL.com stats). He's 99th in even strength points over that same timespan. He didn't get much PP time for 3 of those years to boost his stats.

It's been years, but I recall something about Dupuis being top level in ev goals or ev points over a few year stretch. Doesn't make him worth a 1st plus $5.5M.... I think that Madden said it so it could be 100% Madden bull though.

I remember Dupuis having a really nice run in Pit for a few years from the Cup to the lockout. Heck of a defensive game he played.

yeah man cool chart but in the real world hockey is also a business with real people involved so there`s a little more that goes into it besides #`s.

Not so much people when you're talking about future draft picks. Future draft picks are not people, they are commodities. Draft picks become people/prospects when they are used.

The value in this trade for MN is the draft picks not the players and those picks need to have some sort of value attributed to them. A 1st could be anywhere from 1oa to 31oa, and a top-5 pick is worth a whole lot more than a 25oa pick.
