Just what Minnesota need an expiring UFA. That has no plans to sign with them. Deal.

I.... honestly may do that from pens side. A first is a lot for rental but honestly..... why not? He would fit in perfectly here

We're not gonna get a potential lottery pick for Kreider.

I think with a retention we'd probably have to up the prospect to Barre Boulet. But you could resign Kreider if you like...

He would. And you guys get to avoid trading integral pieces like Poulin or Addison. And capitalize on the few Crosby/Malkin cup window years you have left.

I mean the presumption is that any team trading for him is going hard for the playoffs...so you'd expect none of these to be lottery picks. It's just to show value equivalents to different teams. Since most of these prospects have about the same value.

I'd leave the possibility open of Kreider wanting to play with his best friend (Zucc) for the rest of his career

I mean the presumption is that any team trading for him is going hard for the playoffs...so you'd expect none of these to be lottery picks. It's just to show value equivalents to different teams. Since most of these prospects have about the same value.

We won't get the nashville 1st, the toronto 1st, or the minny 1st. this draft is just too deep for those to even be on the table. They'd more likely trade a stagnating or expendable roster player than give up those picks. Granlund, Dzingel, etc. Minny shouldn't be looking to add someone like Kreider.

He would. And you guys get to avoid trading integral pieces like Poulin or Addison. And capitalize on the few Crosby/Malkin cup window years you have left.

I'd be surprised if you get an unprotected and unconditional first for him at the deadline

Weird to set the bar that low when everyone is saying he's getting at least a 1st + B Prospect.

Ik, just looking at previous deadline deals, goose, Zucc, Dzingle, how often does a pure rental unless they're an elite talent (Kreider isn't, I'd hope we can agree on that) get a first straight up

Yeah I really think that's a product of market supply. Last year the UFA's on the market were, Duchene, Hayes, Simmonds, Zucc, Stone, Dzingel, Nyqvist, Johansson. 8 Top 6 Forwards. All UFA's. All traded Not to mention any RFA's or guys with term (Granlund).

This year is ENTIRELY different. Kreider, then a drop off to Pageau then Toffoli and maybe Kovy? That's it.

Your better comparisons might be Rick Nash. Who went for 1st + recent 2nd round pick + .5 pt/game player + cap dump.

And realize that Kreider is younger, healthier, better than Nash. A 1st + B prospect seems fair if not light of a return.

The drop off between Kreider and Toffoli isn't that big if there even if one, Kreider really hasn't been good this year, and there's tons of other guys, Tatar, Zucker, Granlund all either have term or would probably be much more appealing at that price, plus last year Duchene and Stone were way better than Kreider (it's a different market for high end forwards vs second liners), and calling Simmonds a top 6 forward is a joke, plus MoJo is ideally a third liner, so that's what, 4 guys that are comps for Kreider or Toffoli, and the only one that got a first was the center, Hayes...
