1- you'll have to retain at least 1,5 mil
2-I don't really know who would need him... teams currently contending don't have enough cap space to afford him

It wouldnt be for prospects so retaining nor cap space will be a problem...It would be for a lesser of a player + something more...

Just trying to get an idea of what people may value him at.


Coming off of back to back 90 pt seasons (the best two yrs of his career), still good for at least 2 more good yrs after this yr. The contract isn't a problem yet, no need to retain.

Limited teams have cap and need, demand would be young teams with cap space on the edge of playoffs. Philly, Buffalo, Mtl, Van, possibly cgy edm, main struggle would be fit and most true contenders have there veteran leadership all ready earning big bucks. Value would depend largely on how bad of a contract willing to take back.

Kind of interesting would be some struggling veteran teams, like Nashville or sj, be awefully tough to ship to Nashville, but a underachieving johansen in a blockbuster might kickstart both teams
