Description
On the Schultz trade I went with the thinking that the 10 teams he can include to not be traded to would be EDM and ANA (for obvious reasons), then LAK, MIN, FLA, BUF, OTT, DET, VAN and ARZ (just due to the chances that they would not be playoff teams). He would figure that all of the MET would be off limits due to trading within the division. I really don't think anyone would have thought that WPG would be in the shape they are right now/this year. Does WPG do this and if so, does anything need to be added either way?

they can get more than Roslovic for Schultz.
There was a study on how teams pick their NTC teams. One of the biggest issues for them was taxes, not teams being playoff teams.
Teams tend to rule out canadian teams due to the high tax rate. They tend to prefer teams in FL and NV where there is no state income tax. I'm sure Seattle will be into that group coming up.

I wonder how that would work tax wise on salary retention if he were to be traded to a Canadian team or a state with higher/lower taxes. Does the trading team that retains send a check to the player for the salary or do they send it to the team that the player was traded to? To clarify, does the player pay taxes for the retained salary where the contract was signed or the new city.

I think they are paid where they play. It's a mess. So if you are traveling I think you pay the tax in the state you are traveling in. Because you are legally working in that state/country.
Except for bonus. Bonus is paid where you reside. So if you live in say FL, you pay no state tax on your bonus.

yeah average people have the same issues. If you are a US citizen it can get even trickier because there are rules in splitting the state tax if one state is more or less.
I know one thing. The players don't do this. They would be a mess trying to figure it out. They pay someone to.
