Not many teams have successful rebuilds through 3rd round picks

no team in recent nhl history has had a roster overturn of more than 50%. This won't happen, though some of the individual ideas are tolerable

No they successfully build through drafting and development, re builds are 4/5 season process, the idea is they are picking top 10 with there own pick over the next few seasons while also being able to flip an RNH at 2021 deadline for a 1st, Halak would probably get them a 3rd, Chucky has an ok season he's flipped for 3rd has good season he's flipped for a 1st. Unfortunately for the sharks they do not have assets that will get them several 1sts in any single draft, they have mediocre prospects, and draft capital is minimal

Couture and Meier, if they were on the market would be the top targets out there.. they would get at least 1st rounder each

You basically compared couture for kapanen and dermott

Couture carries a bad contract. To be honest I can’t see the wild making that trade.

The sabres may be desperate enough to take him. Could probably get mittelstadt and a 2nd.

Couture is 30 signed at 8 till he's 38 and averaged 60/70 Pts in his prime, he is now past his prime. There is about 6-8 teams that could fit him in and they are all rebuilding teams who have no interest in giving a Top 15 pick for a player that will continually decline. Mier netted you a third and a 60 pt player on an expiring contract that will net you a 16-31 OA pick

Every new contract from now on is going to be that kind of money, unfortunately

Past his prime? He had his best year last year and is on pace for the same kinda year this year on a team that is significantly worse offensively..

Sure the end of his deal isnt going to be nice, but that's true for ever player that signs an 8 year deal in his ufa

My mistake prime years are 24-31 , so this is his last "prime" year
