I like the Dallas and Edmonton trades, could probably get Honka for Kovalchuk or the 2nd but the concept is smart there's a better chance Honka and Pooli help the Habs in the near future than any of the assets leaving

Dallas accepts and blocks your number, so you can’t change your mind

I definitely don't hate the Puljujarvi trade - it's exactly Edmonton's ask for Jesse and Montreal's 2nd Round Pick should be a somewhat higher one this draft - but my priority would be to use Puljujarvi to acquire a #3C with a bit of term for a possible playoff run this spring.

Definitely a strong fallback option if Edmonton acquired said center through other means.

Ya that Pulijujavi for a Quality NHL 3 C with term is a dream not a hope or I'd rather

He'd be a piece in the trade. Second rounder up to a conditional 1st Rounder depending on what calibre of player Edmonton is getting back.

People can hate on Puljujarvi or dismiss his value all they want. His point pace is equivalent to a quality 3rd line NHL forward right now. More teams are reportedly gaining interest in him (NYR, MON and NJD officially atm). He has value. It might not be as much as he had the day he was drafted, but there's value there.

Besides, do we really blame the guy for not wanting to live in Edmonton? I live there and would rather not, and I was born there.

I'm not hating on him, your prior statement of my priority is to use JP to aquire a 3 C with some term had didn't imply as part of a package

the prospect going back, sure. but the pick is too high imo. MTL's 2nd rd pick will be in the mid to late 30s... no way I give that for Poolparty. Fonstad + a 3rd or 4th tops. If EDM are really that scared of Puljujarvi becoming a legit player in the NHL, maybe a condition can be put on the pick so if Puljujarvi scores more than 35-40pts next season, the picks becomes a 2nd.

That's worse than the original trade, in terms of value. Dallas has zero incentive to move Honka for two AHL cap dumps, both of whom still count against the salary cap, due to their contracts. Honka isn't going to fetch the return in the original post, but Dallas isn't trading him for this awful return. He'll fetch a mid-round pick and/or a B-level prospect
