My playoff lineup if they even make it

Created by: Hackadart
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 31, 2020
Published: Jan. 31, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
3 trades I think I got close on the value but fans of the other teams lmk, Pupose of the move sis to add another strong Defender, Get a legitimate backup for Freddy at the cost of johnsson and picks, But when Mikheyev returns I think Johnsson is expendable and until his return Spezza can fill in well enough, leafs are left with an extra defender so I would either move one of Holl or Dermott or rotate them in and out so that we have 7 Legit NHL defenders in case of injury.
Trades
1.
TOR
  1. 2020 6th round pick (WPG)
WPG
  1. Ceci, Cody
Additional Details:
I don’t think TOR would need to pay to dump Ceci as it’s just a couple months of bad contract for a solid #6 guy who could really help a team like Winnipeg, obvs wouldn’t get much back though
2.
TOR
  1. Georgiev, Alexandar
Additional Details:
Johnsson hasn’t had a great year due to injuries and getting pushed down the lineup but I think he could rebound big with more opportunity and all it costs is a piece that NYR needs to move anyways and they get a 2nd too So they aren’t left with nothing if he doesn’t surpass his 40 points he had in his rookie year
NYR
  1. Johnsson, Andreas
  2. 2021 2nd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Idk what NYR wants for Georgiev but I think the leafs can afford to give up this much to both help make the playoffs and make they less dead in the water if Freddy gets hurt
3.
TOR
  1. Dillon, Brenden
Additional Details:
Dillion is a guy I haven’t seen in trade scenarios much so idk what he would cost but if SJS doesn’t plan to resign him and want to try something new upfront maybe Bracco works out well for them and the second provides some insurance, honestly lmk SJS fans where you place his value because other than his handedness I think he exactly what the leafs need
SJS
  1. Bracco, Jeremy
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (TOR)

My boy out here trading a roster player and 2nd for a backup.

I'd rather wait and let some other team get fleeced on Georgiev.

It’s a backup who can steal some starts though, wouldn’t it be nice to have a high end duo instead of a Starter and a guy who you pray gets you 5 wins all year, also he is young and if he resigns at an okay hit can split starts with Freddy for years to come

Good to know, and honest opinion is this an overpayment or about right? Just curious where you see his value

Some may say it's a bit of an overpayment, but there is expected to be a lot of demand, so a deal like this would probably end up being what he moves for.

Some people out there think that Dillon is going for a straight 3rd with significant retention... Obviously that will never happen

I’d be happy if it costs less but the demand for help in net is there and he is about the best available option so you gotta pay up, this is about the most I’d be content to see the leafs give up

I think it's probably pretty fair value, you may be able to change the 2nd to a 3rd. So Bracco + 3rd, I think that would be fair too. Likely depends on the interest he garners around the league.

The whole concept of "TO can afford" to give up that for Georgiev is irrelevant. I mean I can afford to a grand a month at the casino in hopes I win big but I certainly don't blow a grand a month at the casino

Johnsson at max.. they have 3 goalies and one of them would be traded. Hank likely wouldnt waive, Shestyorkin is their future number one and would they keep Georgiev as 3rd goalie and get his value extremely down? Doubt it. If Leafs give them Johnsson, or San Jose would be desperate enough to trade Labanc for him, they should take it.

I think a lot of people are under valuing a 23 y.o with a .913 in 66 games, I mean carter hart has a .911 in 61 games and just cause he is 2 years younger he is amazing but Georgiev isn’t worth a middle six winger and a 2nd? I mean Georgiev isn’t Hart but is he that ridiculously far off

Look at what the cost has generally been for a back up with his experience - the 2nd rnd pick totally fair it's the addition of a for the most part productive winger with a fair contract and substantial term that makes it an overpayment

I can’t think of a good comparable, what comparable are you referencing?

For that NYR return you could fish Saros or Dell ( for less ), who actually looked like future starters already in their careers.....no need for searching future 1A ( which Georgiev will hardly be ), Andersen will stay at 4 x 8M, so you can go for cheap options like saving DeSmith from AHL or poke seller like LAK for Campbell......

Dubnyk cost the wild a 3rd
Freddie cost a late 1st and a 2nd - was also more experienced and came with an extension

Campbell is a good option but desmith is one to stay away from

Dubnyk was one of the most lopsided trades ever and Freddie is a decent comparable because he was more experienced but also a few years older and that extension was for a lot more $ than Georgiev will take, so honestly There is no reason Georgiev should cost much less than Freddie which Johnsson and a late 2nd is less

Agree to disagree, Georgiev looks like a flash in the pan at this stage , also Leafs aren't shopping for a potential starter or a future starter, they are in need of a backup to play what 6/8 games at the most between now and the end of season? That's why it's expensive, now if Freddie got hurt back in December that'd be a whole different story

But I think they should be in the market for a 1B option and not someone to get you 2-3 wins the rest of the year, if they can rest Freddie and make a push at the same time wouldn’t that be great?
