If that's what the Pens offer then I gotta believe it's a deal.

if the pens offer anywhere close to that they are nuts, he is not worth a first and high prospect at his salary

He is worth a 1st and a high prospect, because he is a good value at his salary. The 3rd in this scenario is probably overkill. Galchenyuk is a salary dump he means nothing to Wild, or most every other team in the league at this point.

galchenyuk as a cap dump isnt really required, we'll be well under the cap by the time the deadline rolls around given jakes injury.

Galchenyuk to another team for a mid round pick and add Bjugstad and take out either the 1st or Hallander

he is not a good value, he is overpaid, if Minnesota retained a 1.5million I would give up a first and good prospect

The third shouldn't be included and The pens don't even need to dump Galchenyuk because of LTIR they actually have more cap space than usual. So Minnesota doesn't need to take him back in the deal unless they actually want him(which they might if they need a LW to plugin to the lineup, but that wouldn't be considered a dump cause he would have a small value in that scenario)

Sure keep Chucky Wild will take Hallander and a 1st for Zucker.
Wild will not be retaining any salary. If he were overpaid he wouldn't have as much trade interest. So I'm guessing your issue is more about wanting Pens to acquire a player you like better, which is fine we all have our favorites, but just say that. If he hadn't broken his leg this year he was on pace for 60 points this year which puts his actual yearly value close to 6 mil a year so at 5.5 mil he falls into the value category.

more about doing right by chucky for me. from everything I hear he is the last guy off the ice and a hard worker and all that... just an awful fit. I include him in the deal because I think the pens try to do right by guys in this type of situation. classy team and all that

I think they do trade him at some point if they acquire a new LW for that reason, some team will take the low risk gamble of throwing a mid or late round pick to get him and see what he does for a couple months. Its unfortunate did not work out better for him with the penguins, like you said from what I have heard is that he has worked hard and everything just not a fit for whatever reason.

and other years he has had points in the 40s, so by your math he would have only been worth 4.5million which means he is actually indeed overpaid by a million...

He is in trade talks cause he is a good player, overpaid or not. Albeit overhyped in some circles. let another team overpay and give up a first and high prospect but he is not the level of player that would warrant that level of trade unless salary is retained.
