You hate to see it. If only they had an all star left handed defenceman instead of him.

They needed a center so bad that they chose Kotka too early

Lord knows Laval could use the help. Though looking at that division I don't think they have much of a chance.

They should have traded down. Would have gotten another pick and still gotten kk

KK will be fine. If you don't want him...trade him to the Hawks. Our center Depth is far deeper than MTLs and I'd still take him in a heartbeat.

While I feel like Kotkaniemi has been better than Poehling, Poehling is better suited to playing 4th Line LW, and KK would benefit more from a lot of ice time in Laval.

They would’ve if the could’ve. He surely would’ve been picked by Arizona over Hayton if he was available.

You’re forgetting the most important detail, Quinn Hughes’s smile can’t compete with KK’s.

The absurdity is that not even the team owning Kotkaniemi seems to understand his solid defensive ability. The only potentially smart move I see is if Mon is trying actively to be worse. Flip someone for a first plus, send down Kotkaniemi and get 2 decent shots at Lafreniere or whomever. Otherwise this just seems to me like they don't understand large aspects of what makes a hockey player valuable.

Yeah maybe I'm just not in the loop, I guess he's been bad. Still, could be him trying to play a certain way that his coach prefers? Seeing as I watch no games, maybe a Mtl supporter could point out any systemically or individual differences that are not "doesn't play hard" etc.

I dont watch them enough to say much either, but I think it's the right move to send him down and get him big minutes to try to get going again. And it could def be part of packing it in this year and looking toward next.

He’s been on Laval for a few hours and the smile has already taken hold.
