Really? Eichel has one year where he has averaged a point a game. Elias is already doing that in his second season. Prior to this season, Eichel's highest goals in a season was 28. Pettersson did that in his first season (in 71 games).

I'm not a BUF fan or a VAN fan. Eichel has even better metrics than that. He was injured or a bit early on. his 5V5 was a full PPG back then too. Peterson NEEDS the PP in order to keep scoring. roughly half of his points come from the PP.

Not sure that's true. Pettersson's line has one of the best 5v5 metrics in the league.

Gotta look at linemates too, I’m sure Eichel would kill to play wil Miller or Boeser (idk which one Petty plays with)

Yes, that's true. But Miller wasn't much before he came to Vancouver and played with Pettersson and Boesser hasn't done much without Pettersson. It's clear that Pettersson drives the line.

Too early in Peterson career to compare, the question will be, his frame and size holding up to nhl grind and either next kucherov or Kane or fall off like gaudreau, where the bigger frame of eichel should have him hold up easier, the question would be more of keeping his speed as he gets older. Basically I don’t think your comparing apples to apples and with Van all ready having horvat, Miller, boeser, they have a need for an elite talent of petterson, where buffalo needs eichel to play a variety of roles. So after all that in an expansion format I would take eichel, but a built team to put a team over the top, I would take petterson. Sorry for that babble lol

Less than 2/5ths is not roughly half. It's closer to a quarter than it is a half.

Ya nice to get some good convo and comparisons on here instead of the one liner shoot down of ideas, had a few go both ways. Difficult to get a good one started

Which would you consider as the better duo: Pettersson +Hughes or Eichel + Dahlin? I think this is much closer, but given that the combo of Pettersson and Hughes is slightly younger, I would lean in that direction

OMG let me throw stats at you....it's closer to 50% than 0%... WOOOOWWWW!!! AND You're 100% wrong! 20 out of 52 is literally 38.5% That's definitely close to 50% than 25%. That's just how math works.

Buffalo is toxic right now, gm in Vancouver has done a nice job of blending everything, vets, youth, skill, grit. Stability in coaching, quiet content ownership group. Being even compared to a 1oa and 2oa is credit to the gm and staff. But I think buffalos pair I would take ahead, kind of think of them or half of a base nucleus needed if you look at a Chicago plan, got the kieth and toews and need the seabrook and Kane. In saying that not taking anything away from Vancouver and having karlsson (Hughes), Kane (petterson). Just a little easier to predict buffalos pairs ceiling and worst case scenario, where Vancouvers pairs ceiling could be higher, but there worst case scenario is worse, with the slight frames. But damn exciting hockey to come in both places.

True, but how much of the onus should go on Eichel? Pettersson pretty much turned the fortunes of the franchise around and Hughes has taken the team to another level. Chicago had a good base of players, but Toews turned the franchise around and Kane added to it. You’d expect some success from Eichel
