2020 after TDL19 moves

Created by: DripBayless
Team: 2020-21 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 1, 2020
Published: Feb. 1, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I might also look to move Neal in the off-season for the right player. With the way this team is trending, his foot speed might be an issue. Good thing he has value by scoring goals / able to be claimed through draft expansion.

I'd keep both Benning and Larsson until we know for sure that Bouchard is the real deal. If anything, maybe by TDL 2020, Bouchard will be ready like Yamamoto making one of Benning/Larsson expendable.

Keep the players, make the 3rd a 2nd and Columbus accepts.

I need an explanation for why Coleman and Wood are targets I keep seeing pop up. I'm at work so I can only take a quick superficial glance at their stats: nothing about these players besides their acquisition cost and lower cap hits is eye catching to me. What is it about these players that Edmonton should be finding so attractive?

Speed, scoring ability, cost controlled for multiple season, plays with an edge, AAV is somewhat reasonable, low cost to acquire

Neither of their statlines suggest scoring ability. They look like legitimately average third line forwards. Again, I don't have proper access to Hockey Reference or Natural Stat Trick. Is there a justification to the claim they could produce in the roles you're placing them in?

Nygard's speed and scoring touch had loads of people penciling him in alongside McDavid. That didn't pan out. Edmonton needs a legitimate skill winger to play alongside McDavid for them to take the next step. This circus act of trying any live body alongside him is a waste of McDavid's time and a waste of assets that could have been used to find a legitimate tip six winger. McDavid already has Kassian as a nobody to ride his coattails, does giving him another elevate this team to the next level?
