Can't imagine Detroit would invest so much into one of their already few positions of strength moving forward

you'd think the Leafs getting actually good backup goaltending for a month or two would stop these hilariously bad deals for a backup, but they havent!

Rangers reject all again...
And you can't afford this team next year:

AA will prob make about 4.5 on a bridge
Domi will make 7 mil on a long term deal
Deangelo will make at least 5 mil regardless of term
and you still have to sign Dermott and Lemieux and your cap room automatically goes down before any of that because of the Shattenkirk buyout

There are some interesting targets here:

Example: Trouba for Domi

Rangers would never get a better deal for Kreider.

i'm in on the kreider deal. win/win for both teams. if the rangers decide not to sign fast, Heinen would be a good replacement for him.

If Kreider has a concussion or even concussion symptoms, I'm not touching him. Even clear, I'm not giving up a 1st + Heinen for him. If NYR can get that kind of offer from anther team, good for them.

Deal

I wouldn't want this. Much rather give up a prospect that's proven less and a 2nd for a rental with a deep 2020 draft

Oh i agree. Much rather a 2nd and Seny to LA for Toffoli with retention. Should have been done already. Even better going after players with term like Tuch, Kase, Josh Anderson etc.. i have never wanted Kreider. But if they were going to do it this is ok value wise. The 3rd coming back adds some draft capital, mitigates the difference between Heinen and a the lesser second piece they would have gotten, and helps make the finances easier to work with Rangers taking $ back. I don’t like it. But if they are going to do it, i could live with it.

The issue with Heinen is that he'll always be under valued in a trade. Same goes for Anderson and Kase though, so hopefully that's the direction Sweeney decides to go. Kreider is a great player, but going for him now instead of 1-2 years ago just makes no sense. Rather make a push for someone like Rakell then. But in a trade like this I'd do everything to give up Moore over anyone else earning actual money.

you gave up a lot more for nash...

1.i didn’t give up anything, don sweeney did.
2. I think this is a bigger package than the Nash deal.
3. The Nash deal was horrible.
4. No, it isn’t.

When Sweeney traded for Nash he was trading for his name not what he was doing, Krieder now is better than Nash was when he was traded

Prefer Heinen for a) his 200ft game, b) friendly contract, and c) RFA status.
As opposed to CK's a) recent concussion, and b) UFA/rental LW status (as well, what's his next contract? >US$5M....yup - if so then see ya Krug)

For reference - 1st two years as a "full-ish" NHL regular:
Heinen 27G/54A = 81Pts
Kreider 38G/45A = 83 Pts

HOWEVER:
Kreider is-what-he-is after 9yrs in NHL and 510 games played...
Heinen still has some ceiling after only 213 games played....
