I don’t hate a move like this in the off season but think not before deadline. Leafs are more likely to want 2 defenders back for those forwards. Maybe Bear rather Larsson. Throw in Caleb Jones and keep the picks. I can’t see Edmonton moving Bear so it’s a non starter.

I see a trade with Minnesota for Dumba as more likely were they moving those 3.

Jones and Bear are untouchable id say. Trading for dumba is a baaaad idea, the leafs need good D, IE adam Larsson / Matt Benning, I imagine would be the pieces if they were looking for 2 d men.

I basically agree. In this case we are discussing losing 2 roster players. Johnsson a top 6 and Kapanen a top 9 player. Both are signed to reasonable contracts. It’s exactly what Edmonton needs. Problem is they don’t come free and to give them up the leafs need to fill the defensive cupboard. Larsson has proven he isn’t that guy and certainly not worth the two forwards.

Puljujarvi is a huge risk and may never even play in nhl again. I personally see him as worth little more then a Bracco or Timashov.

To trade both we would want the defensive equivalent being 2 young guys. Bear and Jones may be “untouchable “ but that is a fair equivalent.

Carolina for Hamilton or Pesce seemed to make some sense last summer but that’s never happen now.

It’s a shame Rangers don’t have a young RHD that they could package with Georgiev in exchange for Kapanen + Bracco + a pick or two.

As much flak as Ceci gets he actually been really good away from Rielly I can honestly see Dubas bringing him back for a contract similar to the Holl contract and I honestly would not be upset

So I would say hello no to this deal.

We could get two d men of Larsson's stature if we split johnsson and kapanen in two separate trades.

I still think if you wanna make a big trade for a guy with term it's dumba or brodin. I know everyone is on Manson but it doesn't seem like a right fit.

I think Poolparty is going to continue to struggle in the NHL if he is still struggling with the English language. He just doesn't seem all that bright to me. I would be interested in trading for him but only if we retain Kapanen long term. He should have a Finnish player with him to make the transition easier. If Kapanen is headed out in this deal or some other deal that Toronto are planning there is no way i want Poolparty on the team. Doesn't help that he cant be sent to the Marlies without passing through waivers.

I also dont think the value is there for Toronto. Im not big on Larsson and hes a soon to be UFA that will cost to much for a diminishing return over his next contract. If we will have to resign him next year i would rather just go had after Pietrangelo this summer or wait and go hard after Hamilton next summer.

I dont feel like handing Edmonton the solution to there winger problem on a silver platter for a UFA that will leave them (and maybe us) in a year, a player who you don't know can perform at the NHL level and a couple if middle 3rd round picks who wont have any impact on the team for at least 3-4 years.

I would love to get a hold of Lundkvist from the rangers. He is still a prospect and probably needs a year in the AHL but i would scream like a little girl if we could have him and Sandn and Liljegren forming mini team sweden on our bac kend for the next decade. If he was packaged with Georgiev it would take a lot more than Kapanen + Bracco + a pick or two i would think. But i would try and go for it if i was Dubas. From the Rangers fan base it seems likely they are going to trade high on DeAngelo while the can to make room for Lundvist on the blueline in the future.

I basically agree with everything else you posted in your response.

I looked and it turns out the rangers do have a young RHD, in fact they have two. Fox and dangelo.

Fox is a non starter I assume.

So how about, kapanen + Bracco + leafs 2nd round pick (2020 or 21)

For
Georgiev and D’Angelo

Georgiev is the 2nd round pick and kapanen + Bracco for D’Angelo

Fox is a non starter, and DeAngelo has had a great year and last year he was pretty darn good too. I think they get a btter offer for DeAngelo than Kap and Bracco.
