Buyout Subban

Created by: DDoverChucky
Team: 2020-21 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 3, 2020
Published: Feb. 3, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
PK Subban came with much hype, and was supposed to help the Devils blueline. He has been a complete disaster. It's clear his priorities are not in hockey; cut down on his salary and he cares. Other underperformers such as Cory Schneider must be cleaned out as well! even though these moves don't make sense for the Cap, they are necessary as the players do more harm than good.

thought devils landed a STEAL with Subban. saw them as a legit playoff team after their great offseason. shocked with their results this season. they shouldve been much better

I can't imagine he follows up this season with ANOTHER stinker. Buying him out save you less than $1.5M in cash and the only significant cap space you gain is in 22-23.
You're better off eating up to 50% of his remaining deal and moving him for something. At $4.5M X 3 there's surely a team that would gamble he bounces back.

Theyre terrible for the next 2 seasons and have a ton of money. Theyre better off not paying someone to take his bloated contract

Ha ha. You know Ottawa wouldn't touch that.

I feel like he hurts the team so much that it's better to just buy him out. He is a distraction in the locker room, and his on ice play has been terrible. I would be surprised if anyone would trade for him at this point.
