They are still saving 1.7 against the cap but if 900K is what it takes to get it done I don't see why they wouldn't do it.

Because retaining while your giving more assets doesn’t make sense

I don't see either team retaining salary. No need cap wise. The 1st and the prospect is exactly what the Rangers would want for Krieder. If taking on a UFA for a few months means getting their expected value I can see them doing this.

Galchenyuk get you a 3rd? lol
I mean honestly would I give up a 3rd for him. No. Any team paying for him is a playoff team. And I have to be real when I say this. If I'm a playoff team looking for help. He's not who I'm looking at, at this point.

I think he's a throw in for cap reasons on a "cost of doing business" at this point unless he's a pure hockey trade 1 for 1 with another guy who's gone bust up on another team.

As far as Kreider to the pens. I don't think it's a fit. I don't see them paying up on a 1 year rental.
He'd have to come with an extension for them to do this. They will probably not have a 1st for 2021. So my guess is they keep this years.

I just figured McKegg could be a cheap 4th liner but if no interest there is no need to include him.

A 40 point player to a contender for a 3 isn't that outlandish, especially in this situation where they retain and he costs 2 million. I know he's having a down year but as far as pure rental options at that price tag its not a bad option.

yeah him being a 40 point player seems like a decade away at this point.
I don't know who would bother. You add the bad play with a history of substance abuse. It says, find someone else.
I'm a pens fan and I'm saying this. I wouldn't touch him.

I think pens have enough depth to not have to trade for him
