Because he ****ing isnt. 95% of all defensive issues are with him being involved. 3/4 goals tonight were directly his. He cannot make a positive defensive play to save his life. There are multiple teams that want him so please take him. He is pure and utter garbage.

What I just can’t understand is, he was traded from the absolute worst team in the league in a package deal. I’m sure the Leafs scouted him, right? I mean, for 3 or so years every AGM in the greater Ottawa area was trying to dump his a&& off on some other team on this site. What brilliant person thought he was magically going to get any better? His reads are horrible, decision making is too slow, compete level is bad, angles are all wrong, his passes are not crisp, and he doesn’t play his gaps well. But hey, maybe he will get better playing for a good team, right?

They had to take him on to get out of that ridiculously bad Zaitsev deal. I think they needed body to play because injuries but this reclamation project is u successfully over. **** it.

You all need to get over the fact that the Leafs as a team blew their 3 to 1 lead by making a number of mistakes and the back-up goalie was not exactly stellar which had nothing to do with Ceci.

Ceci was directly involved in 3/5 total goals. It's on him and Hutch

Are we all finally getting to realize that Dubas isn't very good and he was directly handed his success from the Lou regime?

Dubas is good. Got directly rid of Lou's garbage and Leafs are one of the best teams in the league since coaching change.

Ceci is not good.

What are you talking about???? Ceci has actually been playing solid defence for the Leafs and had a postive plus/minus rating and just because he had a poor game does not mean he is not good regardless of what you think.

If Andersen is out for an extended period, the Leafs with Hutch and Ceci are done

You must need to get your eyes checked ceci is the worst defenseman in the nhl. If the leafs want a chance in the playoffs they would trade him for a more valuable player. Possibly a ben Hutton type.

Question#1 Do you blame Ceci for the 5th goal where Marner made a mistake as well?

Agree with you about Hutch but not Ceci and would not be surprised if Leafs are working on a trade for another goalie.

I'm sure they are, but most teams know their back is against the wall and wouldn't be surprised to see a slight overpayment by the Leafs if they can get a trade done. Makes a move for Crow much more interesting to Leafs fans; although I doubt he waives for Toronto.

I do not think I can totally trust your statement comming from a Boston fan. As far as I know, Ceci had a plus 10 heading into tonights game so have no idea how you can justify the statement that he is the worst defenceman in the NHL when he is being paid over $4,000,000 per year. He was actually playing some of the best defence of his career prior to tonights game. The Leafs are one of the hottest teams in the NHL so the playoffs are not even a concern and I have full confidence that they will take out the ageing Bruins this year in the playoffs.

I live on Westcoast and watched Hutton alot and let me assure you that he would not be postitive addition to the Leafs as he was absolutely terrible the last 2 years for the Canucks. Would you make the same kind of statements after Chara has a poor game with the Bruins?

Leafs are not one of the hottest teams in the NHL...c'mon 4-4-2 in their last 10..not even close to being one of the hottest teams right now. Pitsburgh, Columbus, Florida all have 8 wins in the last 10 and plenty of other teams have 7.

Hoffman goal, Pysyk's 2nd and Huberdeaus goal are all on Ceci with his bad positioning. 5th is on Mitch.

You are 100% correct and my error and I should have worded it correctly that the Leafs have been one of hottest teams in the NHL since Sheldon Keefe was hired. The realty of the situation is if the Leafs would not have lost both Rielly and Muzzen to inury at the same time during some of the last 10 games that their record would have been much better. Leafs won the first 3 games when Muzzen returned into the line-up. I do not know of any NHL team that really can afford to lose both its No. 1 and No. 2 pairing defenceman at same time and not go into a tailspin.

i am going to tell you my personal opinion about a player on your team. If I could pick any player in the NHL to be on my team to win an important game I would pick hands down Jonathan Toews of the Hawks. He is by far the best leader of a team that I have ever seen in the NHL for everything he brings to the table. I live on the Westcoast and loved watching him play against the Canucks in some great playoff battles.

Did not watch the actual game but will trust your judgement. Just think it is really unfair to single out a player so harshly when he has a weaker game after he has been playing decent lately for the Leafs.

Yeah, Toews is one of the best captains in the league even to this day. Stand up guy and everyone in the locker room has a ton of respect for him. He's still playing better then 70% of NHL players, but not the player he once was however as far as leadership still better then ever.

I have also watched him very closely when he plays for Canada in the Olympics and it is my perception that he is the real leader of the team even when he is not a captain and love the way he pumps up his teammates prior to and at the end of each game. He is a really big game player and can play a real shut down role as well. I would actually trade Tavares for him in a straight up deal even though he is a couple years older. I think I will post this on Capfriendly and see what others think of this trade.
