While Kocalchuk wasn’t good with the Kings, to his defense he was really misutilized in LA by being played on the 4th Line often, which explains why he thrived in another system like MTL, a team that could give him Ice Time. Edmonton could always use a scoring top 6 winger and Kovalchuk can produce at an almost PPG rate without costing a 1st around Pick+. With the way he’s been playing in MTL and with his positive locker room influence, it is justifiable to say he is worth a second. Heck, per Chris Johnston, he will fetch a second at the deadline. This is more than fair.

Tatar would provide Pittsburgh with the offensive production they’ve been expecting out of Galchenyuk and much more, making their offense even more lethal and deep for a potential deep playoff run.
