I’ll only consider your point since you put three question marks. Honestly, I understand what you are saying about having one of his best seasons. Unfortunately, if you’re giving up a very good prospect and a 2nd round, it better be for someone who will be giving you more impact for more than 30 games.

Sami Vatanen, all due respect, doesn’t improve the Canes defense enough to pay that price.

Also, I really think you should rethink the absoluteness of your statement that he’s easily the best D on the market. He’s in the conversation but there are other guys I’d rather have. To me, that’s the definition of NOT easily the best on the market.

Dillon > Vatanen, plus you can get Dillon for the 2nd alone

I would rather do 2nd+ Kuokkanen/McKeown if we even need to add at all. We will have an opening for a RW next season and Gauthier is our only prospect able to fill that role in 20-21.
