No it's not. Lehner, if the Hawks are out of the playoffs in a few weeks, will cost the equivalent of a 1st and 3rd. Take out KK and it's close. Bottom line, Lehner is a better goalie then Andersen the last couple of years and having a guy like that on a questionable defensive team is a difference maker in the playoffs.

Taking out KK is a big difference in making it a fair trade. But leaf fans are making too big a deal out of a backup goalie. If we can upgrade for cheap? Sure. Giving up core assets for someone to back up Freddy? Nope. Our assets and cap space should be used on players that will be in the lineup every night.

if he came with an extention I would be consider it but he will cost to much next season so they wont be able to resign him. thats way to much for a rental and freddy will most likely be back, hes just taking a day off and they called up kaski for practice

If he came with an extension Lehner would cost more then that package for sure. Try Kap, a 1st round pick, and A- prospect for Lehner on a long term deal to get a conversation going.

Lehner is the better goalie this year and last year though; not by a ton but better. Problem is the dynamics of making him the #1 would not send a good message.

was referring to last year....it's honestly irrelevant...the leafs have zero need to trade for someone to take over from Freddy. They have a marginal need to upgrade from Michael Hutchinson at backup. Lehner isn't the answer either way.
