"We need cap space, better trade our best goal scorer who has 4 more years at a reasonable cap hit for his production."

Aren't there better guys to trade away if the Blues are set on keeping Petro? Where are all these guys going to play? Who are they better than in our system?

Hawks fans also don’t want to see Pittsburgh succeed but you are right no chance STL does this.

Even if that was an accurate assessment of the package, why would the. repeat chasing Blues trade their top sniper for futures?

I think it makes more sense to go after Marner than Tarasenko, given the position of both teams. For a 22 year old star player, you could offer what Leafs gave up to acquire Kessel (2 1sts & 2nd) or what Stars gave up to acquire Seguin in 2013.

Crazy to think PIT fans think this is an overpay lol STL getting very little in value you here, no game breakers like Tarasenko is.

Bc that worked so well last time... (Obv this is a fleece, tarasenko is miles better than anything given up unless that 2021 first is top 10 like SJ's this yr)

I'd have to think St. Louis would exhaust all other options before trading Tarasenko. Buyout Steen/Allen and/or trade Parayko. They don't have anyone other than Pietrangelo to sign to big money, so I firmly believe they can get that done without trading their most dynamic player.

I'm guessing this is based on the predication that St Louis is winning without Tarasenko so why not trade him and his salary and keep the core of the current healthy team intact. I can understand that perspective.
The package itself isn't totally unreasonable although you'd probably have to switch JPO with Addison. JPO's value isn't near his original draft position. Probably throw a 3rd rounder in as well.

Cap wise it isn't horrible but lets say that cap rises to 84mil. That gives you 14 mil to resign RFA's Simon, Kahun, Riikola, Murray, Jarry, and lafferty. That all depends on how Much Murray wants.
You have to prepare to bring in a cheaper veteran Dman to replace Schultz but more of a 3rd pairing guy since MArino has def passed him. This all will be tricky but not impossible. Maybe Bjugstad gets moved maybe one of the goalies etc.

If Tarasenko's shoulder heals properly you get a game changing forward on a decent contract. And to fact check Tarasenko has only missed one season with the shoulder injury i don't know why someone said he missed 2 years with the same injury. And yes i'd prefer Tarasenko over MArner basically because Marner's contract would be impossible for the Pens to fit and not be a horribly unbalanced team like the Leafs are right now.

This would be a bold win now move for the Pens. Crosby and Malkin get an elite scoring winger on each of their lines. Guentzel with Crosby. Tarasenko with Malkin. Depth isn't hurt too much.

Do I think it will happen no but it isn't as outrageous of some people are saying.

He's had 2 shoulder surgeries, one was in the offseason so he didnt miss much time that season.

I like the thought of putting Addison in there but I still can't see the Blues or Pens looking to make a move like this. Would the pens trade Guentzel for Sundqvist, Perunovich, kostin, and a 1st? There has to be some driver to make a trade like that, bigger than cap mgmt, like an awful season or a locker room issue, etc.
