Description
Bringing in a whole line should eliminate any issues with chemistry. I've separated the NSH trade into 2 based on the AGM here: https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/301941

I added some players to the mix because I have a hard time believing that NSH will trade so many without getting at least SOME warm bodies in return - they have to play the remaining games, after all.

In the first trade I added Sam Gagner to even out the cap hits. Gagner is a UFA next summer and therefore carries no cap implications into next year.

In the second NSH trade I made more changes: the ask was a late 2021 2nd + 5th for Bonino with $1M retained, my offer is Marody (about a 3rd value) and Russell with $1M retained (about a 4th value) for Bonino with no retention. This saves $1.1M for NSH next year (unless Marody is in the NHL, then it's roughly equal), Russell and Bonino are both UFA's in 2021.

The BUF trade is a pending UFA 3rd liner for a 3rd liner that has another year left. I think Vesey brings some of the same skills that made Maroon and Kassian successful with McDavid, he has untapped potential still, which sounds strange when talking about a guy who's nearly 27.

Khaira needs a reset, a change of scenery. I'm not sure who needs him so I just sent him to DET for a late pick. Could be anywhere, frankly.

Would think Sabres is more willing to move Rodrigues for Chiasson instead of Vesey, but what do I know...

As for the Preds trade, I don't think losing an entire line is something they'd be looking for, and Russell is worth nothing for them. Granted picks are nice, but I don't see them being in that kind of retooling/rebuilding state.

I think Rodrigue has more value to them - he's an RFA and a center. Looking at most 2020-21 Sabres AGM's you'll see that Vesey is only rarely re-signed. I think he'll be gone to the highest bidder at the deadline.

They'll likely trade one or both of Grimaldi and Smith at the deadline, and I see NSH fans posting AGM's here all the time with one of Turris or Bonino being traded, so I don't think this is actually too far fetched. Maybe the value is off a bit, but I haven't moved Puljujarvi either, and he could be added in order to make this work.

I think it's a win-win: Sabres get an NHL player for a guy they're unlikely to re-sign, while Oilers get a short-term upgrade on Chaisson.
