Idk if moving your starter when Carolina has hopes for the SCF is the best call, kinda shady

their starter who has a .900 sv% on a stellar defensive team? CAR upgraded in net with Georgiev

I’m not saying he’s like amazing, but I feel like that could change a lot within the team no?

Carolina has a good thing going and gambling on a young kid with none crazy stats is kinda risky no?

Just it effects the locker room and synergy trading your “main goalie”, and Georgiev hasn’t been CRAZY enough to warrant gambling SC aspirations imo. Yeah sure it’s a fair value move and not a bad trade but kinda shady no?

I didn’t say it’s a bad trade but it effects the team in other ways, just commented above

Fair enough but I dont see how running with a Georgiev-Reimer tandem is 'shadier' than a Mrazek-Reimer tandem

If Mrzarek is a problem in Carolina, how is he a solution with the Leafs? Still haven't replaced Ceci with a Dman.

Shady as in it effects the team, and as I said Georgiev hasn’t WOW’d, he’s great don’t get me wrong and I’d like to see him in SJS as we have Dell who’s been great. Jones is literally just waste unfortunately. But we have nothing to lose. If SJS was in a playoff push I wouldn’t think Georgiev is as good as a shot. Georgiev would move from a back up to a full starter, while young, on a new team, and a team with the goal of winning a Stanley cup. It could work well like Binnington but not everyone has ice in their veins like him.

Mrazek is a fine backup, he just isn't a starter, You get someone who's got an idea of what a puck is, we get a potential starter

one problem at a time. Neither CAR or NYR are looking to trade a RHD that TOR would be interested. They can get a D man from elsewhere (Martinez?).

As for the goalies, Mrazek isnt a great goalie but hes way better than Hutchinson and Kaskisuo. Mrazek is only a problem in CAR because he is their go-to goalie whereas in TOR he would be the clear backup. Hes not great but hes a serviceable backup goalie

tbh I said that more based on reputation than actually watching them. but they are still 3rd best in shots against per game and 7th best in goals against per game so I will stand by my statement

Hutchinson has won his three starts, so right now is Mrazek WAY better as you suggest? We'll have to to see how Hutchinson is tonight and how long Andersen is out. Ceci has been playing well for awhile. It's more a CapFriendly that he is so bad he should be given away for nothing. Of course the ones that trade Ceci, 99% of the time don't replace him at RHD, so really those trades are meaningless.

He doesnt need to be Binnington, he just has to keep playing like he has been. Hes still young and from CARs perspective this move is just as much about the future as it is for this season. Georgiev is already an average NHL goalie and is only 23. CAR would be betting on him becoming a starter soon. Id assume CAR would run a tandem with a near-even split of starts between Georgiev and Reimer until Reimers contract is over

Did you watch Ceci and Hutchinson vs FLA? They were both terrible. I admit I dont watch many Leafs games but in that one game Ceci looked worse than the Avs defense was in 16-17. As for goaltending, Hutchinson has a 4-8-1 record this season and is very streaky. He has one shutout and one game against OTT where he saved 24 of 25, but even with those included he has a .886sv% on the season. In the 10 games he has started this season he only has a sv% above .900 in 3 of them. Thats a terrible quality start percentage. So I do think Mrazek is way better

On another note, if you are interested in D trades look at my last TOR AGM with Martinez. The Leafs defense wasnt the point of this post

From a Rangers perspective, I like it. Ceci's cap dump is only for the rest of this season, plus a prospect, a 2020 2nd, and two 2021 3rd's. Looks like you did your homework! As it also gives TOR the backup goalie they need and needed cap space. As well as giving CAR an upgrade in goal and their goalie of the future.
