While yes, the logic behind a "Hockey" trade here makes sense, BUF has an excess of RHD needs a solid LHD and Winger talent. TOR has excess winger talent and excess LHD depth & Backup goaltender depth with the need for RHD?

A solid LHD ? How a players who doesn’t have played a full Nhl season is a solid LHD. Engvall is a intriguing prospect but that not enough to justify acquiring Montour who is probably the best defenseman in buffalo this year.

I am a little confused on how Dermott is an AHLer??? With 3 Seasons of NHL exp & top 25 advanced stat numbers in the league????? is younger than Montour with better advanced stat numbers?

Dermott has played a full NHL season this would be his 2nd "Full Year" last year he missed 15 games because of injury. & This year the only reason he does not have 50+ games is he was injured to start the first month. Dermott has some of the best Advanced stats in the league (Over exaggerated here but most of his CF%, ect is Top 20-30 in the league)

I agree wholeheartedly that BUF and TOR are perfect trade partners and should swap F for D, but I don't like the proposed trade at all. Doesn't make sense to move Ullmark

I don’t know where you have check your date but actually on even strengh is CF% is negative and he is having most of is start in offensive zone so thats very bad. And Keefe managed is ice time so he isn’t expose against top players. So again i don’t see how you qualify him as top advance stats players. Fenwick and corsi both are negative he is on ice for less chance created then chance against.

laugh I know Holtby is having a bad season by his own standards, But let's get real he's not signing for the low. Maybe 5 x 7.5 at the very least but 5.5 no way.

There was a thread by Ian Tulloch on the Athletic written about 1-2 months ago. that Dermott statistically super underrated. Id have to go back and find the article but for now i will admit you are right because that's what his numbers are currently. I was not aware they dropped so drastically. The more i look at the BUF-TOR trade the more i dislike it. In general it works for both sides but TOR deff underpaid for the value coming back.

Our undercover scout Nazem Kadri doesn't think very highly of Montour. Not sure the Leafs should be trading for him.

I mean advanced stats are not that great since dermott doesn’t see much ice time with matthews and tavares line. He gets most of is ice time with the 3rd and fourth line so its normal that is advanced stats are not that good. I watch him played he is not a great defenseman but he skate well and move the puck efficiently enough to be a good defenseman in nhl. I think he can turn out as a solid 4-5 defenseman. The same applies here for Montour, he got most of is ice time with the second line and third line of Buffalo who are complete trash so is stats are affected by it, but he is very solid defensively and would be a nice addition to any defense core in the league. I think we must be careful with advanced stats.
